Dwg No A7090747 The trusses of the proposed Garage, in addition to supporting the usual wind and snow loads, etc., are to carry, within the limited 2nd. floor area indicated in the sketch below, in a strip 16' wide and the length of the building a uniformly distributed dead storage load of 15 lbs. per sq. ft. For this reason the lower chords of those trusses, within the loaded floor area, are to be floored over as specified under Para 3 below. The lower chords of all rafters are to be anchored to plate and to studs where possible with TECO RAFTER-Ty and TY.DOWN rafter anchors as applicable. Trusses are to be made by Nassau Suffolk Lumber & Supply Corp. using materials as specified in their Dwg No A7090747. 3 FLOORING (2ND.) Ref.Dwg. No. C1032 & Following Sketch To consist of 5/8" 5-ply, CDX fir plywood cut and fitted around stairwell and around chord braces as shown in the following sketch. Plywood is to be nailed to tops of bottom truss chords with #6d galvanized nails, 6" O. C. at edges and 12" O. C. at intermediates. Install 5/8" galvanized TECO H-clips between plywood edges between joists. GIRDERS Ref. Dwg. No. C1033 Two girders are to be installed above garage door openings as shown in C1032 & 3. Girders to be made of three 2 x 12's, construction grade fir, 1600 psi capacity in bending, glued with 3/8" AC fir plywood and PL 400 adhesive, nailed with %16 galvanized common nails at 10" random spacing from both sides. East girder to be without splices (20 ' long). West girder may incorporate splices excepting over 16 foot span, and no more than one splice over 9 foot span (30' I" long). FRAMING Ref: Dwg. Nos. C1032,3 uilding to be framed with construction grade fir, 1,200 psi safe load, dry, excepting for girders which are to be manufactured as specified under Para 3 above. Studs at large door openings are to serve as finished jambs when vinyl covered as shown in detail in C1037, and must be square and true. Heads of lag screws are to be set flush with surface. Finish lumber forming finished openings for jalousie windows to be 21 1/2" x 47 1/4", Ref. B1038, to be square and true. Finish jamb for 32" x 7' door to be installed flush with exterior of rough opening and to be covered with vinyl. 5 SHEATHING Ref: Dwg. Nos. C1032,3,7 & B1038 Sheathing is to be of 1/2" 5-D1¥ CDX fir Dlywood aDDlied directly to studs and arranged so that no joints of adjacent sheets fall on the same studs. Sheathing is to extend to inner finished edges of finish door Jambs and finish window jambs to facilitate apDlication of vinyl siding panels to exterior wood surfaces. (See detail sketches in Nos. B1038 & C1037). all Dwg. Sheathing is to be nailed with 6d galvanized common nails, 6" apart at edges of sheets and 12" o.c. at intermediate points. 6 FOUNDATIONS Ref. Dwi. Nos. C1034, 5 All foundations for walls and piers are to extend downward at least 36" below grade and are to be constructed in all respects as specified by the Town Of Southold. Floors are to be laid over at least 5" of crushed stone or coarse gravel, which is to be covered with polyethylene sheet before pouring. Floors and patio areas are to be reenforced with %10 steel wire mesh with 6" x 6" (max.) openings. Walls and piers are to be reenforced with steel rods as specified All concrete is to be of at least 2,500 psi compressive strength at 28 days. Walls and piers shall be poured in layers whth each layer being consolidated prior to pouring the next. 7 ROOF a} Underlayment Underlayment of roof is to be of 5/8 §-ply CDX fir plywood applied directly to top of trusses and arranged so that no joints of adjacent sheets fall on the same truss. Underlayment is to extend to, and to finish even with eves and gable overhangs as shown in C1036. Ail plywood edges not otherwise supported and nailed are to be supported by §/8" galvanized TECO H-Clips, one such clip between each pair of trusses. Undarlayment is to be nailed with 6d galvanized common nails, 6" apart at edges of sheets and 12" O. C. at intermediate points. b) Roofing Roofing to be Bird, shingles (or equal as applied in accordance instructions. 290 Lb., white, 3-tier asphalt approved by The Engineer} with the manufacturer's c) Misc. A continuous edging of shingles is to be installed at the gable shown in detail in C1036. roofing as shown in cedar roof edges as 8 SIDING & TRIM Ref. Dwg. Nos. C1036, 7, 8 Siding is to be textured, white "Triple 4" solid vinyl siding, vertical, together with appropriate accessories, soffit trim and facia moldings of the same material, manufactured by Certainteed Corporation. Siding and accompanying trim materials are to be installed in accordance with accompanying Installation Instructions supplied by the manufacturer and these drawings and Specifications. When appying these materials cognizance is to be taken that the framing and sheathing of this building are such that each alternate vertical nailing line may fall opposite a stud, and care is to be taken that this will occur wherever possible. Only non-staining spiral nails satisfactory to the Building Inspection Dept. of Southold Town and The Engineer are to be used for attaching this siding. It is the intent of these drawings and Specifications to require covering of all exterior surfaces of this building, excepting the roof, exposed foundations, door surfaces, and eaves facias and facia returns with vinyl. Any deviations from these instructions are to be approved in advance of construction by The Engineer. 9 PIPING Ref. Dwg. Nos. C1034, 5, 9 a) TaD Water A cold water connection is to be made from the underground sump in the Utility Room in the adjacent Pool House to two taps in the Garage as follows: Excavate a ditch from outside the Pool House at the location of that sump to the location of the sump in the Garage, with the pitch toward the Garage for proper drainage. The depth of the pipe where it passes through (or under?} the Pool House wall is to be approx. 15" below the floor level of the Pool House, which is the same as 25" below grade outside the Pool House at the position of the sump, which is the same as 10 1/2" below the grade of the patio and the floor of the Garage, (dimensions approx.}. The depth of the pipe at the garage sump is to be 28" below the floor. The pipe is to pass through the wall, and all the way throughout its length without creating low places which will not drain properly. This ditch is also to accomodate ecectrical conduits as convenient. The pipe is to be of one continuous lenght of i 112" high density polyethylene, 100 psi rating, with connections to 3/4" OD copper tubing withsweat fittings at both ends. Double stainless steel clamps are to applied on both plastic-to-metal connections. The Pool House end is to be equipped with downstream brass drainage globe valve, 3\4" IPS size so that water flow to the garage may be shut off, and the pipe vented, without shutting off the flow to the Pool House, this valve to be accesable at the Pool House sump. The Garage end is to be equipped with a 1/2" (min.) brass globe valve for drainage. The interior of the Garage is to be piped with 3/4" and 1/2" rigid copper tubing leading to two standard 3/4" hose bibs, one near the sump and the other on the west side, midway between the west doors. b) Drainage To Dry Well Two 4" rigid P¥C lines are to be to the dry well shown in C1039. run from the Garage The first line is £or drainage o~ accumulated rain water at the east side of the Garage. It is to start adjacent to the northeast corner of the Garage, with a cleanout end fitting, is to Dass along the east side and the south end of the Garage, and thence to the dry well, all Ditched toward the dry well at a grade of no less than " per foot. Along the east side and south end of the Garage it is to be of the standard Derforated drainage tyDe and is to be laid in coarse gravel.
