(Thursday) at 7: 30 o'clock at the Southold Town Clerk's Office, Main Road, Southold, by mem-
bers of the Mattituck Inlet Civic Association to combat what it terms "a condition of progres-
sive deterioration and pollution," affecting the Mattituck Inlet area. All interested property owners

Dear Mr. Raynor:
I have the petition of the Mattituck Inlet Civic Associa-
tion demanding the cessation of operation and the removal of the
Asphalt plant in the Mattituck Inlet area.
This matter falls primarily within the jurisdiction of
the local Town agency of government, particularly through zoning
procedures. I have, nevertheless, requested the Suffolk County
Department of Health to investigate the situation as may be concerned
with the public health and will further request an investigation by
the local firematic organization as may be concerned with fire hazard.

relative thereto is availableo

It is a health menaoe, a fire hazard, oause of air
oontamination and pOllution, a source of foul odors
and noxious fumes, smoke, poisonous dust, ground vibra.-
tion and a general r.lUisanoe, not to mention driving
hazards due to littering of roads oaused by spillage
of trap...rock trom overloaded and speeding truoks.
As a. result of the above mentioned reasons many persons have
had to resort to tranquilizers and ba.rb! tuates as a means of
temporary relief.
