1. STRICT APPLICATION OF THE ORDINANCE would produce practical difficulties 8~lSIe>llWl:~
_l<:HNIDSHlP because i1IEX there are 3 highways (2 on maps only, 1 actually
dedicated to the Town) bordering our property and the only rear yard
that qualifies is not a practmcal place for the garage. It would
eliminate our service drive and would annoy our neighbors on that
side. Furthermore the topography is difficult, since the house is
on a hill and the garage would be perched on top of a grade. Lastly,
a garage in the proper rear yard would have to be located over the
cesspool.
2. The hordship created is UNIQUE and is not shared by all properties alike in the immediate
vicinity of this property apd in thi.:; use distric,t because the other properties already
had ~arages DUllt berore zonlng went into effect. Our garage (a former
barn) was located directly on Oceanic Avenue and we demolished it
several years ago because its appearance detracted from the neigh-
borhood.
3. The Variance would observe the spirit of the Ordinance and WOULD NOT CHANGE THE
CHARACTER OF THE DISTRICT because xXi1IEbix the project is a small one and in
an unimportant spot. There is a small building there already.
Most important of all, Halcyon Ave. has not been accepted by the
Town, it serves only ourselves and the Gerrys and thus would not be
seen by the public. Midlothian Ave. the third highway shown on the
map has never even been travelled over, let alone dedicated to the
Town. It is overgrown with trees and brush and would re~uire a
surveyor to locate it and no one wants it opened (see map aEEa~~H~x
tracing attached).

Here are the Gordon 'hotos...such as they are...the
camera was an old one and the photographer inexperienced...
so these poor results...however they emphasize the point
that there are nothing but trees about...perhaps good
snaps would show little more.
