A. For new building or new use: 1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and unusual natural or
topographic features.
2. Final Approval from Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage-disposal (S-9 form).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Sworn statement from plumber certifying that the solder used in system contains less than 2/10 of 1% lead.
5. Commercial building, industrial building, multiple residences and similar buildings and installations, a certificate
of Code Compliance/Yom amhitect or engineer responsible for the building.
6. Submit Planning Board Approval of completed site plan requirements.

Subject: The Arias Residence, 195 Oak Ave., Southold, NY 11971
Building Dept,
As requested by the Building Inspector, the attached floor system was reviewed. As requested by the
Building Inspector, upgrades will be performed to bring this old floor system into present day compliance
for load bearing and deflection. To achieve this requirement, the following tasks will be completed:
(1) The existing 2-2" x 6" main beams in the basement would deflect more than allowed under a
full design load of 50 lbs/fl2. There are three possible options to correct this:
- Option A: Columns will be added to reduce all spans to 5 feet or less. Each new 3-1/2"
diameter steel column will have a concrete footing that is 2' x 2' x I' [deep].
(Recommended option since the beam would be frozen in its current state.)
- Option B: Replace main beam with a new 3- 2" x 8" main beam with lolly columns
spaced no greater than 8 feet. Each new 3-1/2" diameter steel column will have a
concrete footing that is 2' x 2' x 1' [deep].
- Option C: Bolt 1/4" steel plates on both sides of the current 2 - 2" x 6" beam with butt
seams over the lally columns only. The staggered three bolt pattern (i.e., ½") should be
at each end of the plates resting on a support plate of the lolly column or four inches on
the adjacent wall. The bors should be spaced at no more than 3 foot intervals. If the
beam cracks while straightening to accept the steel plates, the beam should be replaced
as specified in Option B.
(2) All flush framed connectors will be installed with appropriate metal joist hangers and
fasteners
(3) All floor joists spans greater than 8 feet will have bridging installed
(4) One bay (see that attached drawing for location) has a span greater than 9 feet with 2" x 6"
floor joists spaced 24" on center. This bay must be upgraded by installing new 2" x 6" floor
joists such that the new spacing will be 12" on center.
