is requested for the reason. that I wish to erect an addition to my dwelling
leaving an 8 ft. side yard.

REASON FOR APPEAL
Continued
1. STRICT APPLICATION OF THE ORDINANCE would produce practical. difficulties or unneces-
sary HARDSHIP because it is higher ground where I wish ,to erect the
addition. The rear part of the lot is subject to flooding.
2. The hardship created is UNIQUE and is not shored by 011 properties alike in the immediate
vicinity of this property and in this use district because of flooding on the rear of the

lot. The utility room will hold my oil burner which cannot be put
in the c~llar because the cellar" is often flooded.
3. The Variance would observe the spirit of the Ordinance and WOULD NOT CHANGE THE
CHARACTER OF THE DISTRICT because the addition will improve the appearance
of the house and neighborhood.

a. This application must be completely filled in by typewriter or in ink and submitted in duplicate to the Building
Inspector.
b. Plot plan showing location of lot and of buildings on premises, relationship to adjoining premises or public streets
or areas, and giving a detailed description of layout of property must be drown on the diogrom which is port of this location.
c. The work covered by this application may not be commenced before issuance of Building Permit.
d. Upon approval of this application, the Building Inspector will issue 0 Building Permit to the applicant. Such
permit shall be kept an the premises available for inspection throughout the progress of the work.
e. No building sholl be occupied or used in whole or in port for any purpose whatever until a Certificole of Occupancy
shall have been granted by the Building Inspector.

This Appeal >>0. 403 is for a variance to reduce the southerly
side yard by 2 feet. After investiqation and inspection the Board
tinda that this residence is located on Which was formerly the only
hiqb ground on this property. Subsequently the meadow section which
comprises the major part of the lot was partially filled. At very
high tide the entire lot with the exception of the knoll where the
house 18 located 18 flooded.
The applicant seeks a variance so that he may construct a
garage and shower room and utility room attached to the southerly
aide of hi. dwelling.
This i. a unique situation and in the opinion of the Board
an unnece..ary hardship would be created if the appeal were denied,
as a practical difficulty would enter into the situation as on any
other site the structure would necessarily be elevated beyond a
usable floor level. The adjoining residence is a considerable
distance away and the character of the neighborhood would not be
changed.
