THE SPECIAL EXCEPTION IS REQUESTED BECAUSE we have lost a sign on the
north side of Route 25. This due to the road being moved south at
the point where sign is located. The sign is of no value at the
present location and we wish to have permisSion to move it to a
new location owned by Nassau Brick Company on the south side of
Route 25 in the nearby location.
Sign size: 5 ft. by 10 ft. Not to exceed 50 sq. ft.
Letter of permission attached.

a. This application must be completely filled in by typewriter or in ink and submitted in duplicate to the Building
Inspector.
b. Plot plan showing location of lot and of buildings on premises, relationship to adjoining premises or public streets
or areas, and giving a detailed description of layout of praperty must be drawn on the diagrom which is part of this location.
c. The wark cOl'ered by this application may not be com menced before issuance of Building Permit.
d. Upon approval of this application, the Building Inspector will issue a Building Permit to the applicant. Such
permit shall be kept on the premises available for inspectio n throughout the progress of the work.
e. No building shall be occupied or used in whole or in part for any purpose whatever until a Certificate of Occupancy
shall hove been gronted by the Building Inspector.

I have just rotten around to checking the directional sign
which the Board or Appeal, approved tor you on May 4th, and which you
have erected on the property ot ".Akar~tate, instead ot the Nassau
Brick Co as requested and approved,.
This sign must be at least 6; teet in trom the edge ot the
paYment or 78ft trom the centerline of the state road, As I measure it
is only 67 ttto the oenterline oithe State Road and must be moved
back at leut 11 more teet. Th1s llIay re"u1re cutting some brush to
make it visible but it must be done. ' '
When the sign is IIIOved baokt.o the proper distance there will
be a permit ree ot $ ,.00 due to make the sign comply with allot the

In reply to your telephone conversation this afternoon about
relocr!ting your sign on tr.e Ptate noad, in west (lre"nportJ Please be
advir,nd that as a hotel you will qualify under the rresent Boar~ of Appeals
rules and regulations to relocllte your sign in the vicinity wh~re it
has been before the state rebuilt the road.
It will be necessary for you to make application to the Hoard
of appeals for a special exception to relocate the sign. Enclosed are
the forms necessary, the fee is $15.00 to accompany the application.
The property on the southerly side of the ~nin road in that
area 15 own"!d by the Nassau Brick Co, Fal'mingda1e, L1. It will be necessary
to get a letter of permission from them to Iovate on their property. The
State owns quite a wide strip between the road and their property.
In the past there have been other signs put up on their property
in violation of the Zoning ordinance and I had to force their removal,
however ~ote1, motel, restaurant, or similar operation is considered
to be in the public interst and the Board is q~ite liberal with directional
signs for th"'m.
