APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
Instructions
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted in duplicate to the Building Inspec-
tor with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and unusual
natural or topographic features.
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposal-(S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and installa-
tions, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for the building.
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
For existing buildings (prior to April 1957), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1. Accurate survey of peoperty showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural or
topographic features.
2. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.
3. Date of any housing code or safety inspection of buildings or premises, or other pertinent informa-
tion required to prepare a certificate.

Attached are drawings and plot plan for a house which
I intend to build on the estates end of Fishers Island.
Permission was granted verbally to proceed with conM
struction by Mr. Lawrence Bogert~ then chairman of the
plans committee of the Fishers Island Development Corp=
oration on May 6a 1972~ but we did not start constructIon.
Permission was again requested by Us in September of last
year. Mr. Noyes, now chairman of ~he plans commlttee~
asked by return mail that the house be staked out on the
lot and that a plot plan be drawn and delivered together
with the house drawings to Mr. Richard Baker at the
Utility Company. This was done. In a telephone con-
versation Wednesday he indicated that a misunderstanding
had occurred regarding our application which the plans
committee now is reconsidering. I told him that I would
mail the drawings to you so that they might be reviewed
for construction prior to an early start.
Our contractor wants to use prefabricated ~russes in the
roof, and a more conventional fr~mfng plan for the second
floor than that shown on the drawing. We now want to
excavate for a full basement instead of a crawl space~
with a garage door opening on the driveway shown on the
plot plan. The furnace and the water heater would be
located in the basement close to the chimney instead of
on the first floor as shown on the drawings.
Kindly inform me as to any changes 'that you would require
to conform to New York State building codes and any
additional drawings or sketches of details.

ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
By this appeal, appellant seeks a variance for approval of
access, New York Town Law, Section 280-A to premises located on
a private road at the East End of Fishers Island, New York.
The access road in question is approximately 40ifeet wide. It
is the feeling of the Board that the road is adgquate for egress
and ingress. ~
The Board finds that the relief requested ~s not substantial;
that the relief requested is within the spirit ~f the ordinance;
that the variance if granted will not change th~ character of the
neighborhood; that no adverse effects will be produced on avail-
able governmental facilities of any increased population; that.
the hardship is unique; and that the interestsiof justice wil~
be served by granting the variance as requestedlwith the following
below-specified condition. :
On motion by Mr. Doyen, seconded by Mr. Gr~gonis, it was
RESOLVED, that Karl E. Fransson, 11 Dodge Drive, West Hart-
