The monitoring program was conducted on December 9, 2005 for the fifteen (15) gas monitoring wells at the southwest, south and southeast perimeter of the landfill. Figure 1 is provided which indicates the location of the gas monitoring wells at the landfill. The field program included the measurement of oxygen and combustible gases for each of the wells as required by NYSDEC. The field work was conducted during a period of relatively low barometric pressure (29.87 inches).to provide an evaluation of gas migration under a potential"worst-case" scenario. The H2M personnel utilized an MSA Orion Multi-gas Detector to monitor for oxygen and combustible gas (percent of lower explosive limit [LEL]) from the sampling ports of the gas monitoring wells. The following table summarizes the findings of the December 9, 2005 gas monitoring program: Percent Gas Probe LEL Percent Oxygen GMW-1 0 20.1 GMW-2 0 19.2 GMW-3 0 14.3 GMW-4 0 19.6 GMW-5 0 6.5 Giv`W-6 0 0.0 GMW-7 0 14.9 GMW-8 0 20.4 GMW-9 0 0.0 j GMW-10 0 14.3 j GMW-11 0 0.0 GMW-12 0 10.9 GMW-13 0 3.2 GMW-14 0 10.4 GMW-15 0 0.0 ENGINEERS ► ARCHITECTS ► SCIENTISTS PLANNERS ► CONSTRUCTION MANAGERS ► SURVEYORS Y James Bunchuck January 4, 2006 Page 2 The results indicate that there is currently no threat of combustible gas migrating beyond the boundary of the landfill. If any questions arise concerning the gas monitoring program, please contact our office at (631)756-8000 Ext. 1610. Very truly yours, HOLZMACHER,,MCLENDON&MURRELL,P.C. George W.Desmarais,P.E.
