Statement of the effect, if any, on the wetlands and tidal waters of the town that may result by reason of such proposed operations (use attachments if appropriate): The project seeks to replace an existing bulkhead with a vinyl bulkhead in the same location to maintain the property's historical method of protection against erosion and flooding. The site has been improved with, stabilized, and protected from flooding and erosion by a bulkhead since at least 1961,and there is no viable non-structural alternative means of maintaining and protecting the upland portion of the property in its current location. Without replacement and maintenance of the bulkhead, the subject property and the adjacent, bulkheaded properties would be exposed to severe erosion, flooding, and potential damage to the residential structures located thereon. The project will provide the ecological benefits associated with replacing a treated timber bulkhead with untreated vinyl sheathing and otherwise maintain the historically existing conditions along the bulkheaded shoreline without any change to or significant adverse impact on the adjacent tidal wetlands or waters. r 617.20 Appendix B Short Environmental Assessment Form Instructions for Comnletin2 Part I-Project Information. The applicant or project sponsor is responsible for the completion of Part 1.Responses become part of the application for approval or funding, are subject to public review, and may be subject to further verification.
