APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
Instructions
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted in triplicate to the Building
Inspector with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of oil buildings, property lines, streets, and
unusual natural or topographic features.
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposal--(S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and
installations, o certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for
the building.
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
B. For existing buildings (prior to April 1957), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1. Accurate survey of property showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural
or topographic features.
2. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condJtlon of buildings.
3. Dote of any housing code or safety inspection of buildings or premises, or other pertinent in-
formation required to prepare a certificate.

b. Plot plan showing location of lot and of buildings on premises, relationship to adjoining premises ar public streets at
areas, and giving a detailed description of layout ofproperty must be drawn on the diagram which is part of this application.
c. The work covered by this application may not be commenced before issuance of Building Permit.
d. Upon approval of this application, the Building Inspector will issue a Building Permit to the applicant. Such permit
shall be kept on the premises available for inspection throughout the work.
e. No building shall be occupied or used in whole or in part for any purpose whatever until a Certificate of Occupancy
shall have been granted by the Building Inspector.
APPLICATION IS HEREBY MADE to the Building Department for the issuance of a Building Permit pursuant to the
Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, and other applicable Laws, Ordinances or
Regulations, for the construction of buildings, additions or alterations, or for removal or demolition, as herein described.

· All work shall be performed in accordance v~th the requirements of the State Building
Construction Code, latest edition, applicable to GeneraR Building Construction, applicable

jurisdiction.
2. Contractors shall notify Owner br Architect of any discrepancies from Code requirements prior

4. Ail footings shall rest on firm, undisturbed, natural soil or approved compacted fill of
minimum 2 1/2 ton bearing.
5. Al~ concrete footings shall be of 1:2:4 mix for 2500 psi concrete.
6. Reinforcing bars if required shall conform to ASTM A-15 and A-305.
7. Structural steel and miscellaneous iron shall conform to ASTM A-36. Pipe columns shall conform
to ASTM A-53, grade "B".
8. Anchor bo]ts shall be placed minimum 8'-0" o.c. with a minima of two per plate. Anchor bolts
shall be 1/2" dis, x 18" long.
9. Contractor shall provide every item of framing as required whether specifically shown or not to
make a complete job in accordance w~th governing codes, good practice and to secure all framing
members as may be required.
Ail headers over windows and exteruor doors shall be (2) 2" x ]2" unless otherwise noted.
All girders and headers shall be No. i construction grade material.
