Dear Mr. Affinito:
This letter is a follow up to your letter of August 3, 2022 wherein you detailed your
request to "trim" one oak tree and to remove one birch tree located on your property,
which trees were shown in photographs which you provided. The Board of Trustees
reviewed the trees designated that are within 100' of the wetlands, as seen by Trustee
Elizabeth Peeples.
The Board of Trustees determined that the oak tree may be pruned and the birch tree
may be removed. No permit will be required in order to do this work.
Any other activity within 100' of the wetland boundary requires a permit from this office.
This is not a determination from any other agency.

Subject: tree care at 1675 Pine Neck within 100 feet of Jockey Creek
Hi Diane- I hope you are well. My wife (CCed)and I live at 1675 Pine Neck in Southold. We had Jonathan Shipman from
Shamrock out to our property today after a tree fell on our driveway. He pointed two trees within 100 feet of the Jockey
Creek water that will require your approval to be pruned/removed.
One birch tree appears to be dead, and it is hanging over our retaining wall. The other is an oak tree with several dead
branches that need to be pruned.
Between the house,our 2.5 year old, and the upcoming hurricane season,we would appreciate the town's approval in
removing the birch and trimming the oak within 100 feet of the water line.
We're available to discuss(cell below)and you are welcome to our property to look at the trees that will be
impacted. Thank you!
