I have received the notice of disapproval requiring a variance, which I will process immediately with the Southold Town Zoning Board of Appeals. In the mean time, I hereby request an extension of time and I will fence in the area in accordance with Mr. Fisher~s memorandum to me dated January 29, 1982. Applicants have submitted an affida%it of Alma M. Granger that the accessory building was prior!to 1946 a garage, which was converted some time in 19461into a cottage containing a bath, kitchen, bedroom and livin~room. The affidavit also affirms that at or prior to 1943 the premises contained a one-family house in addition to the garage. In considering this appeal, the board determines that the variance request is not substantial; thatlthe circumstances herein are unique and the practical difficulties have been shown; that by allowing the variance no substantial detriment to adjoining properties would be created; that the difficulty cannot be obviated by a method, feasible to appellants, other than a variance; that no adverse effects will!be produced on available governmental facilities of any increased population; that the relief requested will be in harmony With and p~omote the general purposes of zoning; and that the ~nterests of justice will be served by allowing the variance.
