Box 1179 Southold, New York 11971 Fax (516) 765-1823 Telephone (516) 765-1801 THIS IS TO CERTIFY THAT THE SOUTHO! n TOWN BOARD, AT A REGULAR MEETING HELD ON MARCH 9, 1993, ADOPTED A RESOLUTION REAFFIRMING THE FOLLOWING- POLICY: POLICY WITH RESPECT TO HIRING EMPLOYEES RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of Southold hereby establishes a policy that henceforth the Town Board shall require advertisements and interviews for hiring ail Town employees on either a part-time or full-time basis; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED that the resumes for interviewed applicants shall be kept in an active file in the Office of the Town Clerk for a period of not more than six (6) months from the date an appointment is made for a specific position, shoul'd a like position become available; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED that the Commissioner of Public Works shall be permitted to maintain a permanently active file for the purpose of hiring Gate Attendants at the Southold Town Landfill, and the Chief of Police shall be permitted to maintain a permanently active file for the purposes of hiring School Crossing Guards; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED that rehiring of seasonal employees shall not be subject to the aforesaid policy; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED as follows: (A) All people appointed by the Town Board as new employees of Southold Town (excluding Highway Departraent, by Town Law) will have been approved by the Personnel Committee and the Town Board. (B) The Personnel Committee, Town Board and/or relevant $~nding Committee(s) will, for this purpose, meet with the applicant, in person, and review his/her Town application for employment. (C) Under urgent circumstances, where the Town requires the services of. and appoints, a newly-hired person before the Personnel Committee, Town Board and/or the relevant Standing Committee(s~ has had an opportunity to meet with the applicant, the appointment will be considered provisional, and the procedure-will be followed retroactively.
