Helen Rynd's parents were John and Sue Nagle who purchased the house in the 1930's. 5. Helen Rynd and her husband, Don, were also very close friends with my husband Charles Brautigam and his family. They socialized regularly and we continued to socialize with Helen and Don Rynd after I married into the Brautigam family on West Road in 1994. 6. My husband and his family became summer residents of 675 West Road, Cutchogue in 1928 until we married and it became our permanent residence in 1994. 7. 1 can corroborate the statement by Donald B. Rynd,Jr.that in fact there were upstairs living quarters in the existing garage at 1165 West Road, Cutchogue. 8. Helen Rynd and I spoke often, and she spoke to me about the time that while the main house was being renovated in 1987 she and her husband lived on the second floor of the existing garage living quarters. The premises located at 1165 West Road, Cutchogue New York, 11935, formerly known by us as Anglewood, was purchased by my grandfather,John R. Nagle,from the Holden family, immediately subsequent to the hurricane of 1938. 2. At that time, and through John R. Nagle's death in 1954 and his wife, Sue G. Nagle's death in 1959,John R. Nagle and his family occupied their principal residence at 110 Continental Avenue in Forest Hills, New York and used Anglewood as a summer home. 3. For the first several seasons of their summer occupancies Mr. and Mrs. Nagle and their .family brought a couple with them, Edward and Georgia. Edward served as the chauffer and gardener, and Georgia served as the cook and housekeeper. 4. Edward and Georgia lived in the upstairs area of the garage at Anglewood which consisted of a bedroom and large open area. There was a full bathroom (toilet, sink and tub) but no kitchen for cooking in the building. 5. At the time of my birth in 1946 Edward and Georgia were'no longer in my grandparent's employ but the second-floor garage area remained as it had been when they were living there. 6. Although I had not yet been born when Edward and Georgia were at Anglewood, I clearly remember both my grandparents and my parents speaking about Edward and Georgia and mentioning that.their occupancy was the reason for the bedroom and bathroom in the garage. 7. 1 had been going to Anglewood from my first year, until 2015. 1 have clear recollections of both my grandparents from about age 5 or 6 (1951-1952.) on and the general activities occurring on the property itself. At no time during that'period was the bedroom and bathroom removed, and there was no change made to the living area of the garage prior to the sale to the current owner. The property included the house and accessory garage. Based on previous affidavits in the file,the house was constructed in 1904. The garage is two stories and located in the front yard. The Town issued a pre-CO in 1985 for the house and accessory garage. The pre-CO focused on the house being a one family dwelling, but the pre-CO did not include the existing living quarters on the second floor of the accessory garage. The living space in the garage did not include a kitchen, were additional sleeping quarters, with a full bathroom, and has existed since prior to 1957. I have attached to the pre-CO application the following documents: 1. A survey 2. Two affidavits: (A)An affidavit prepared by Mary Lou Folts, local attorney, and neighbor on West Road attesting to the existing living space. (B)An affidavit by Donald B. Rynd Jr.,the grandson of the former owner John R. and Susan G. Nagle. They both attest to the existence of the living space on the second floor of the garage and an inspection of the garage by your department will confirm that the space remains. 3. Floor plans of the existing garage I will schedule an inspection with John. Based on this inspection and the affidavits, the pre-CO should be issued with the living space included. Thank you.
