A.I.Ao Dear SirS I have examined the plans for the Cleavland addition and alterations, Winthrop Drive, (Ft.Wright Area) Fishers Island, N.Y. It appears to me that you will need a "rear yard "variance, (Art. III, section 308) for the addition. I am enclosing the necessary application forms for the building permit and the appeal for thevariance. ~ The Board of Appeals will meet again on April 1.to receive applications which will be h~ard on April 15th. Dear ~r ~erry: Regarding our ~hone conversation of last week I~m enclosing the drawings for the Cleveland Guest House at Fishers Island. The septic tank will gO where the exis, ing cistern is, which is within the 50~ restriction. The Property Deed says there are no setback restrictions on the north and east lotlines, so I have put the link and the tower as far back as possible, but from what you have said I think the only variance we will need is the 25~ setback for the tower, assuming the deck does not count as building. ~he bids will be in by the 10 april and we hope to start building the next week in order to get the job f~nished by the middle of June, so I would appreciate as fast service &s is possible. PALMER 55 EAST TOWN STREET NORWICH, CONNECTICUT April ll, 1965 Zoning Board of Appeals Town of Southold Southold, Long Island, New York Dear Sirs: I am writing you with regard to the request for a variance at Fishers Island, for Mr. Cleveland. While at Fishers Island recently, I saw a set of plans for the proposed alterations and additions to the former pump h~use building owned by Mr. Cleveland. I own the vacant lot across the street from the Cleveland property. I wish to state that I ay opposed to the granting of a variance. One of the reasons why I purchased this lot last summer was that it offered a nice view of the harbor. I felt at the time that the pump house tract was suitable for a boat house. With the small land area I was confident that substantial additions to the present structure would not be permitted. I am a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Norwich, and understand the problems that come up. I can imagine that this is not an easy one for you. I realize the advantages of having more build- ings and increasing the grand list. In this particular case. I believe the proximity of the building to the shore line should be a con- sideration. In time the area across the street will become built up. It would seem that the shore line should remain open. Very truly yours, LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE OF HEARING Pursuant to Section 267 of the Town Law and the provisi¢ of the amended Building Zone Ordinance, of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, held by the Zoning Board of Appeals public hearing will be of the Town of Southold, at the Town Office, Main Road, Southold, New York, on April 15, 1965, on the following appeal. 8:30 P.M. (E.S.T.), Upon application of Caroline C. Cleveland, Wooddale Road, Greenwich, Conn., for a variance in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance, Article III, Sectio~ 308, for permission to erect an addition with insufficient rear yard requirements.
