APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
Instructions
This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted in duplicate to the Building Inspec-
tor with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and unusual
natural or topographic features.
2, Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposal-(S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and installa-
tions, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for the building.
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
For existing buildings (prior to April 1957), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1. Accurate survey of peoperty showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural or
topographic featu res.
2. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.

INSTRUCTIONS
a. This application must be completely filled in by typewriter or' in ink and submitted in triplicate to the Building
Inspector, with 3 sere of plans, accurate plot plan to scale. Fee according to schedule.
b. Plot plan showing location of lot and of buildings on premises, relationship to adjoining premises or public streets or
areas, and giving a detailed description of layout of property must be drawn on the diagram which is part of this application.
c. The work covered by this application may not be commenced before issuance of Building Permit.
d. Upon approval of this application, the Building Inspector will issue a Building Permit to the applicant. Such permit
shall be kept on the premises available for inspection throughout the work.
e. No building shall be occupied or used in whole or in port for any purpose whatever until a Certificate of Occupancy
shall hove been granted by the Building Inspector.
APPLICATION IS HEREBY MADE to the Building Department for the issuance of a Building Permit pursuant to the
Building Zone Ordinance of the TOWn of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, and other applicable Laws, Ordinances or
Regulations, for the construction of buildings, oddltions or alterations, or for removal or demolition, as herein described.

1. STRICT APPLICATION OF THE ORDINANCE would produce practical difficulties or unneces-
sary HARDSHIPbecause when the existing house was built in 1952, it was
planned that some day an~addition would be added on the Easterly side.
To effectuate this plan I instructed the original builder to situate
the building as close to the Westerly line as possible. This, the
original builder failed to do. It thus becomes impossible to construct
the proposed addition within the set back requirements of the Southhold
Town Zoning Code. Only about 10 ft. of the proposed addition will
violate the Southhold Town Zoning Code.
2. The hardsh,pcreated is UNIQUEand isnot shared by all properties alike in the immediate
vicinity ofthis property andinthis use district because the original builder built the
house at an angle so that any addition on the East side is impossible
to construct without about 10 ft. of the proposed addition being con-
structed within 6 ft. 6 in. of the Easterly line.
3 The Variance would observe the spirit of the Ordinance and WOULD NOT CHANGE THE
CIIARACTER OF THE DISTRICT because the character of the District and my
immediate community is composed of one and two story single family
dwellings. The proposed addition will maintain this character. The
building on my Easterly side, owned by my neighbor, John A. Valenti,
is constructed between 20 ft. to 30 ft. from our common boundary
so that between his building.and my proposed addition, there will be
ample yard space thereby maintaining the general character of the
District and my immediate community.

.After investigation and inspection, the Board finds that
the applicant requests permission to construct addition with
insufficient side-~&~d setback, Lupton Point Road, Mattituck,
New York. The findings of the Board are that the Board is in
~greement with the reasoning of the applicant.
The Board finds that strict application of the Ordinance
would produce practical difficulties or unnecessary hardship;
the hardship created is unique and would not be shared by all
properties alike in the immediate vicinity of this property and
in the same use district; and the variance will not change the
character of the neighborhood, and will observe the spirit of
the Ordinance.
THEREFORE IT WAS RESOLVED, Hon. Joseph R. Corso, 360 Adams
Street, Brooklyn, New York, be GRANTED permission to construct
