TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27,2022
IN THE CUTCHOGUE FIRE DISTRICT, IN THE
TOWN OF SOUTHOLD SUFFOLK COUNTY NEW YORK
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Special Election of the qualified voters of
the Cutchogue Fire District (hereinafter called the "Fire District"), in the Town of Southold,
Suffolk County, New York, will be held at the existing firehouse located at 260 New Suffolk
Road,Cutchogue,New York,in the Fire District,on Tuesday,September 27,2022. The polls
shall open at 3:00 o'clock P.M. (Prevailing Time)and shall remain open until 9:00 o'clock P.M.
(Prevailing Time)or as much longer as may be necessary to enable the voters then present to cast
their votes.
NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that pursuant to the resolution adopted
by the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Fire District on August 29, 2022, the following
Proposition will be submitted to the qualified voters of the Fire District for approval or
disapproval:
PROPOSITION
Shall the bond resolution of the Cutchogue Fire District, Suffolk County, New York,
entitled: `BOND RESOLUTION OF THE CUTCHOGUE FIRE DISTRICT ("FIRE
DISTRICT"),IN THE TOWN OF SOUTHOLD("TOWN"),SUFFOLK COUNTY,NEW
YORK,ADOPTED AUGUST 29,2022,AUTHORIZING CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW
TWO-STORY BUILDING ADDITION AND ALTERATIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS
TO THE EXISTING FIREHOUSE LOCATED AT 260 NEW SUFFOLK ROAD,
CUTCHOGUE, NEW YORK, SUBSTANTIALLY AS DESCRIBED IN THE PLAN
PREPARED FOR THE FIRE DISTRICT WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF NEMSCHICK
SILVERMAN ARCHITECTS P.C., INCLUDING ORIGINAL FURNISHINGS,
EQUIPMENT,MACHINERY,APPARATUS AND ANCILLARY OR RELATED SITE,
DEMOLITION AND OTHER WORK REQUIRED IN CONNECTION THEREWITH
(HEREINAFTER SOMETIMES CALLED"PROJECT");STATING THE ESTIMATED
TOTAL COST THEREOF IS $16,000,000,INCLUDING PRELIMINARY COSTS AND
COSTS INCIDENTAL THERETO AND TO THE FINANCING THEREOF;
APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT THEREFOR; AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE
OF BONDS IN THE AMOUNT OF NOT TO EXCEED $16,000,000 TO FINANCE
SAID APPROPRIATION AND PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF
TAXES TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL OF SAID BONDS AND THE INTEREST
THEREON AS THE SAME BECOME DUE AND PAYABLE,"be approved?
All residents of the Fire District who were duly registered to vote with the
Suffolk County Board of Elections on or before September 6, 2022, shall be eligible to
vote at said Special Election.
NOTICE IS ALSO HEREBY GIVEN that absentee ballots shall be made
available in accordance with the provisions of Section 175-b of the Town Law and that
applications for such absentee ballots may be applied for at the office of the District Secretary.
The absentee ballot application must be received by the District Secretary at least seven(7)days
before the date of the aforesaid Special Election, if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the
voter,or the day before such Special Election,if the absentee ballot is to be delivered personally
to the voter or his or her agent. A list of all persons to whom absentee voters' ballots shall have
been issued will be available in the said office of the District Secretary between the hours of 8:00
A.M. and 5:00 P.M. (Prevailing Time)Monday through Friday up to and including the day set
for the Special Election, and such list will also be posted at the polling place at the Special
Election.
