ESSEKS & KATHRYN R. STOKES SCTM# 1000-64-1-14.7 Retaining Wall Costello Marine Contracting Corp. on behalf of DAVID C. ESSEKS & KATHRYN R. STOKES requests a Wetland Permit to install a new retaining wall consisting of 260' on the face with two 6-foot returns for a total of 272 feet. Located: 522 Town Creek Lane, Southold. SCTM# 1000-64-1-14.7 The proposed action has been reviewed to Chapter 268, Waterfront Consistency Review of the Town of Southold Town Code and the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) Policy Standards. Based upon the information provided on the LWRP Consistency Assessment Form submitted to this department, as well as the records available to me, it is my determination that the proposed actions are INCONSISTENT with the below listed LWRP policies and therefore is INCONSISTENT with the LWRP: Policy 6. Protect and restore the quality and function of the Town of Southold ecosystems 6.3 Protect and restore tidal and freshwater wetlands. 1. The littoral zone provides important functions and values to the marine wetland system species (shelter, food supply and habitat). 2. Severe erosion is not occurring indicating and there is not a need for an erosion control structure. 3. Vegetation planted on the littoral shelf(spartina alt.) is a better option and furthers Policy 6 of the LWRP program. See properties to the east. 4. The introduction of a CCA treated materials into a living ecosystem has an adverse impact on the species within that ecosystem. Pursuant to Chapter 268, the Board of Trustees shall consider this recommendation in preparing its written determination regarding the consistency of the proposed actions.
