Present: Pat Lutzky, Eric Dantes, Denis Noncarrow, Cheryle Amara, Debra O’Kane, Marilyn Sierra, Nancy
Messer, Town Attorney John Burke, Council Woman Jill Doherty
Late arrival: Mark Levine.
Guest: Anne Smith, Mattituck-Laurel Civic Association.
Meeting began at 4:30 p.m.
1. Approval of Meeting Minutes
a. May 11, 2021 Meeting Minutes – Cheryle Amara made a motion to approve the

meeting minutes. Nancy Messer – 2. Approved unanimous.
2. Grant Criteria & Application for Funds by HC NOFO LLC (Fuerstein parcel)
a. He is looking for $173,596.36 grant money to be used for dry well and IA Septic.
1. Pat – Do we want to use HAC Funds for this? Offset infrastructure
costs?
2. Debra – Are you comfortable with this? Debra expressed some
hesitation, desiring more time to review.

3. Eric made a motion to approve the grant request. Cheryle, 2. Eric,
Cheryle, Pat and Nancy approved. Abstained – Debra and Marilyn.
4. Based on above vote, Jill recommended HAC make a request to the
Town Board to approve the grant.
3. Anne Smith – President of Mattituck-Laurel Civic Association.
a. Civics are in favor of Affordable Housing.
b. Cheryle requested Denis notify HAC of Affordable Housing topics on Town Board
agenda so HAC can garner attendance at these meetings and public hearings to
show support.
c. Pat – We need to be mindful of the problems hindering Affordable Housing
Naysayers make their opposition known.
HAC as well as business owners should have a presence at public
meetings to show community support.
d. Pat asked how the Civics Associations can partner with HAC. Anne responded with
some ideas, stating that there are housing issues common to all hamlets, including
housing for employees and more education to the public. She suggested perhaps focus
groups and workshops as ways to build public awareness and disseminate information
about proposed projects. Citing the importance of education, she also pointed out
people need to understand what is being asked of them when they offer public
comment.
e. Jill reminded HAC that there are 6 Town Board Members advocating for 20,000+
residents.
f. Cheryle suggested HAC listen in to Town Board work session and gather helpful
information before a public hearing.
g. Anne suggested HAC and the Civics could attend public hearings and provide input.
4. Given the late hour, the group agreed to table the balance of the agenda.

Mark made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Cheryle 2, approved unanimous.
Next Meeting Scheduled for Tuesday, July 20, 2021 @4:30 pm VIA Zoom.
