THE C~LAIP/~AN: Is there anyone present who wishes to speak for this application? CRAIG BUSCH~t~N: Yes, I would. We would like to build a paddle tennis court. I ROBERT BERGEN: CP~.IG BUSC~IAN: Is it going to be enc!csed? Enclosed? In what sense? ROBERT BERGEN: Covered over at all? C~IG BUSCPiMAN: No. It will have a f~nce, and is raised a little off the ground. ROBERT BERGEN: I see. i thought mayb~ you were speaking of putting up a building for it. I THE CF~A!~3dN: It's a paddle court with abcard floor? CRAIG BUSC~J~N: Yes. i THE CPIA!R~LAN: How high will the backstops be? C~.iG BUSCEMAN: 12' Southo!d Town Board of Appeals -6- July 22, 1976 CRAIG BUSCHMAN: It's really a great game - a lot of fun. CRAIG BUSCHMAN: I've got a map here which shows it. (Mr. Buschman and the Board referred to the diagram.) THE CHAIRMAN: The proposed paddle tennis court, on this sketch, appears to be a distance of 65', piHs or minus, from Nassau Point Road. It is screened from Nassau Point Road by a wooded area. The deck of the proposed court is 31' x 61', surrounded by a 12' fence. How high is the net? Is it higher than a tennis net? CRAIG BUSCHMAN: No, I believe it's shorter - 1-]/2 tennis rackets. I might also add that the area used to be a prlvate parking lot. THE CHAIRMAN: Is there anyone who wish~s to speak agalnst this application? (There was no response.) After investigation and inspection uhe ~oard finds that the applicant requests permission to construct accessory building in front yard area, east side Nassau Point Road, Cutchogue, New York. The findings of the Bo!ard are that the _ vard~ restricued ~ the lots to apo!icant's rear zs severiy yy the east. , The Board finds that strict applicauio~ of the Ordinance would produce practical difficulties or unnecessary hardship; the hardship created is unique and would no{ be shared by all properties alike in the Lmmediate vic!ni=y qf this property and in the same use discrict~ and the variance will not change the character of the neighborhood, and will observe the spirit of the Ordinance.
