e. No building shall be occupied or used in whole or in part for any purpose whatever until a Certificate of Occupancy ~
shall have been granted by the Building Insp'~ctor.

APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
Instructions
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted in DUPLICATE to the Building
Inspector with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and
unusual natural or topographic features.
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposal--(S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and
installations, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for
the building.
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
B. For existing buildings (prior to April 1957), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1. Accurate survey of property showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural
or topographic features.
2. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.
3. Date of any housing code or safety inspection of buildings or premises, or other pertinent in-
formation required to prepare a certificate.

Dear Mr. Tabor:
Following an inspection by the Building Dept. of an addition to ms'
home on Beep Hole Dr., Mattztuck I was informed %ha% the wmndow area in
an exXsting bedroom which adjoins the 20' X 21~' addition As not adequate
according to present building code requirements.
The house which was built iu 1966 has one other bedroom of a like size
which has onmy one window which is the same size as the one in question.
I respectfu£Ay request that the w~ndow area requirement be waived~in
this case since the overall balanced appearance of the exterior of the house
would be offset by an~ charge, in the size o2 location of the rem~lning win-
d~w. The new addltion was planned to b~end ~ and conform to the existing
contours of the house and any change from that p~-- would ondy tend to
produce a "tacked on" appearance. It would also add expense to the project
which in these times of sky-high building materials would strain the budgeted
amount, already strained. The existing bedroom will house on34y one child
and the window is of ample size to be used for escape in case ox- fire, etc.
This request in no way reflects an attztude which is in opposition to
a sensible building code since such codes only benefit the homeo~uxer in the
long run, but ia this particular instance~ a larger window in a small bed-
room which now houses one child instead of two as before would be of little
benefit.
