HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/20/2022 SOUTHOLD TOWN TREE COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING July 20, 2022 HELD IN PERSON (and via Zoom) 7:00 PM Present: Gerard Orientale, Dan Goodwin and via Zoom: Curtis Rand& Erick Haas This Regular Meeting of the Southold Town Tree Committee was called to order at 7:00 PM—this was an in-person meeting and held via the Zoom Platform. Discussion Items: Gerard welcomed our newest committee member, Erick Haas who joined our meeting via Zoom. Gerard stressed the importance of"scoping out" tree planting locations for the Fall as we hope to plant anywhere from 75-100 trees, which will be acquired from different vendors — the exact species of the trees we will acquire is not yet known. Gerard advises that we may be limited in our options this year. Curtis Rand who also joined our meeting via Zoom, will gather some locations for planting on Fishers Island. Dan Goodwin advises that a Town highway tree truck will be on Fishers Island for about a week taking down trees. We would like to get a specific number of trees to be planted on the island, so that they can be ordered and delivered there. Curtis recommends that smaller rather than larger trees will be preferable on the Island. Gerard asked Curtis Rand if he had any questions concerning the proposed Tree Code. We await the Town Attorney's review of the proposed Code in order to "simplify"the original version. Committee members Jay Jansen and Frank Imbriano will attend the August 3, 2022 Town Board meeting which will be held on Fishers Island. The weeping cherry tree on Peconic Lane(East of Tasker)needs to be elevated and pruned. Erick volunteered to do the work. Once this has been accomplished then we will locate the plaque and reset it. We will next meet on August 17, 2022—In Person and via Zoom. This meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Diane DiSalvo
