Chapter 55-1 (Providing Notice of Public Hearings) requires in Section B(2) that notice is provided to owners of abutting properties and "such notice shall be...addressed to the owners at the addresses listed for them on the local assessment roll." The Notice sent to me used "8280 Peconic Bay Boulevard Box 121," which is different from my address on the assessment roll. This resulted in delays at the US Postal Service such that I only received the notice and became aware of the project yesterday afternoon, mere hours before the day of the hearing. This is not reasonable notice by any standard and I have been unable to assess the project in appropriate detail or consult with experts. The project appears to be an over-intensive use for such a small lot that already has a large house, large in ground pool with a hardened deck, and various other improvements. It is proposed to double the size of the existing improvements on the water's edge and for moving the driveway along my property line, which requires the cutting down of countless trees on the lot and along the public way with unknown ecological impact Further, the application is essentially to build an entire new dwelling. What is described as a garage project is more accurately described as a second home on the property. It has a height of 23.5 feet, which I believe is several feet higher than the Code allows, and after all of this, the Applicants have the property up for sale (MLS #3421727). As I have had almost no time to compose my thoughts and consult with an expert, these objections are the more pressing but do not include a thorough examination of the plans, as I was not given proper notice. Inasmuch as the statutory requirements of Chapter 55-1 for providing notice of public hearings were not followed, I was not provided appropriate and reasonable notice as guaranteed by Town Code. Given this and the additional concerns outlined above, I respectfully request an adjournment of this hearing. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Kathleen C.
