The minutes from the April 20, 2022 meeting were approved. Discussion Items: Gerard updated the committee on the Code Committee presentation held with respect to the Tree Code. Gerard felt that the meeting went well. We are now awaiting Town Attorney, John Burke and Town Board Member, Jill Doherty who will be researching the Tree Code of Massapequa in order to refine our own Code in the hopes of a "simpler" more comprehensive code. The main objective for the Code being to try to end the clear cutting of trees in our Town. The Arbor Day winner's tree was planted at Oyster Ponds School and is getting watered by the student who won the poster contest. There was talk about the possibility of purchasing "gator bags" to help in the watering of newly planted trees. Carol Scott has been contacted to advise that Tree Committee will participate in the July 4th parade. Dan Goodwin reported on the diseased Ash trees(53)in East Marion alone, and that there may be more diseased trees in Angel Shore, Yennecott and Orient. The Highway Department is already taking down some of these trees and reaching out to people to see if they want trees replanted in their place. There was discussion about getting together to design a door hanger to alert homeowners about possible tree plantings in their area. Gerard would like to be proactive for next Arbor Day by ordering the seedlings way in advance of April, i.e,November. He will speak to Penny at Creative Environmental about ordering same. Curtis inquired if there was anything on Fishers Island that we required him to take care of at this time. Gerard will advise him how much of the budget money he can utilize for Fishers Island for trees. Curtis will advise if he hears of any reactions to our proposed Tree Code from any Fisher Island residents. We will next meet on June 22, 2022 — In Person and via Zoom. This meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Diane DiSalvo
