Fuentes,Coordinator ARFS1�RVATI Go southoldhpc@southoldtownny.gov June 23, 2022 RESOLUTION #06.23.2022.01 Certificate of Appropriateness (EXTENSION) RE: 585 Orchard Street, Orient, NY SCTM# 1000-25-2-14.1 Owner: LUCY BARNES RESOLUTION: WHEREAS, as set forth in Chapter 170 of the Town Code (Landmarks Preservation Code) of the Town of Southold, all proposals for material change/alteration must be reviewed and granted a Certificate of Appropriateness by the Southold Town Historic Preservation Commission prior to the issuance of a Building Permit; and WHEREAS, on February 7, 2018, applicant, Mark Kaffaga, submitted a proposal to replace an existing roof with cedar shingles; and WHEREAS, on February 20, 2018, the Commission granted an Administrative Peiinit to the applicant for scope of work which involved the installation of cedar shingles; and WHEREAS, ownership of the project location has transferred from Mark Kaffaga to Lucy Barnes; and WHEREAS, the Administrative Permit has since expired; and WHEREAS, the new owner, Lucy Barnes, has submitted an application, dated June 13, 2022, and met with the Commission during a Pre-Submission Conference on June 23, 2022; and WHEREAS, on June 24, 2022, the applicant submitted a copy via email of specifications of Tapersawn Red Cedar Shakes, 18 inch by 5/8 inch. NOW BE IT RESOLVED, that the Southold Town Historic Preservation Commission determines that the proposed work meets the criteria for approval under Section 170-8 (A) of the Southold Town Code; and Page 2, June 23, 2022 Lucy Barnes Extension of Cert. of Appropriateness BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the Commission has determined to waive a public hearing, and approves the request for an extension for a one year term ending June 23, 2023, and determined that a Certificate of Appropriateness shall replace the Administration Permit; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Commission grants a Certificate of Appropriateness, subject to approvals by all involved agencies; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that any deviation from the approved specifications referenced above may require further review from the Commission. I'm hoping to do the roof quickly, before all the summer folk come out for July and August, because I don't want the noise to bother them.Should just take 4 days, but still would be great to get it over with in June... It is leaking badly, rain just pouring into the house,so it really has to be fixed asap as I can't empty the buckets fast enough! I'll get the info back to you asap. See below Commission Handbook: "Work must begin within one year of the date of issuance of the Certificate of Appropriateness. Work must be completed within two years of the date of issuance of the Certificate of Appropriateness. If work is not completed within two years of the date of issuance of the Certificate of Appropriateness, then the applicant must apply or an extension before the original certificate expires. Requests for an extension should be made to the Southold Town Building Department. Extensions do not require a public hearing or public notice, do not carry a fee and will be considered during the T� public meeting after the public hearing portion of the regularly scheduled meeting." cc The Chair requests that you complete an application and meet with the commission.
