Land Use Training; Seminar I: Planning and Zoning
On June 16, 2022 the members of the Board of Appeals and the ZBA staff, Planning
Board members, and Planning Department personnel attended the first of four Town
Board approved land use training seminars in partial fulfillment of their required
annual training. Members of other land use boards, committees and departments that
attended as invitees either in person in the Meeting Hall or via Zoom included: two
members of the Architectural Review Committee; two members of the Historic
Preservation Commission; two Town of Southold Trustees, the Land Preservation
Department Head; 3 members of the Land Preservation Committee, the Acting Town
Attorney; and 2 Town Board Councilmembers; 18 in person, 8 on Zoom for a total of
26 participants. The seminar went on for more than 2 hours of presentations and
engaged discussion, questions, and answers. Special thanks to ZBA staff Kim
Fuentes, Elizabeth Sakarellos and Donna Westermann who ably managed the
complexities of screen sharing and Zoom participation. I am currently working on
setting up the second seminar with the Town Trustees and Trustees Department staff.
