The following action was taken at the Southold Town Board of Trustees Regular
Meeting held on Wed., April 20, 2011:
RESOLVED, that the Southold Town Board of Trustees APPROVES the request for a
Transfer of Wetland Permit #4016 from Robed Wieczorek to George & Mary Vail, as
issued on September 28, 1989, and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Southold Town Board of Trustees APPROVES
the Amendment to Wetland Permit #4016 to add a 3' high gate with 1" high sign on
ramp to dock, as depicted on the survey prepared by Nathan Taft Corwin III dated
October 26, 2010.

I am writing to request the transfer of a Grandfather Permit # 4016, dated 9/28/89 for an
existing floating dock in Goose Creek. Copies of Permit # 4016 and a recent site survey
are attached.
As you can see the permit was issued to Robert Wieczorek from whom my wife and I
purchased the property on March 17, 2000. It was recently brought to my attention that
I should request an updated permit in our names. I apologize for not having done so in a
more timely fashion but was unaware that it was necessary.
With the exception of one minor alteration to the dock and ramp they are unchanged from
the day Permit #4016 was issued. The alteration I made this fall was adding a three foot
high gate with a one inch high "Private" sign the ramp to the floating dock. The gate is
not locked but does have a latch. Once again, this was done without knowledge that any
permission was required and unsafe situations had arisen. On one occasion I came home
to find a group of eight unknown persons either sitting on or in my boat or standing on
the dock drinking cocktails. On another occasion I discovered a man and his three year
old child standing on the dock with fishing poles in their hands. In both cases the parties
turned out to be summer renters. My liability if there was an accident in either of these
occurrences could be catastrophic.
I have enclosed the required $50.00 check and respectfully request that you and the
Board address our request at your next meeting.
