P~7). I a_m also enclosing profile and section design° At the point of beginning the natural channel is approval- mateiy ~0 feet wide and 1 foot in depth~ but it dwindles to a one foot wide mosquito ditch before reaching New Suffolk Lau e. This is simply inadequate to drain the pond on the east side of New Suffolk Lane which itself serves as an outlet for a state and county storm sewer. The existing !ow~ swa~:py area has also been a real prob- lem to the 8ounty Mosquito Commission and they have spent a considerable sum of money in the past two years trying to keep thei~ ditches open. This matter has come to a head now due to a present excess of salt in the above-mentioned pond known as Dam Meadow Pond, due, in all probability, to the calcium chloride used on state road ~5 and county road 2~7. Since I halve used this pond as irrigation source for over ZO years and ~au~ still using it na~ purpose~ this condition cannot be allowed to continue. There is also crop damage which I believe is the result of excessive salt. The proposed ditch~ or canai~ as laid out by the Suffolk County Soil and Water Conservation District, together with a change in the culvert under c.r, ~7 would~ I believe~ provide an adequate outlet for the salt-laden storn~waters.
