Re: Your Inquiry/25-500 Main Road, OrientJZBA #990
Dear Mr. Price:
We have received your letters dated April 30, 2000 and May 9, 2001.
Information, for record purposes, is necessary to show the layout of the building
including the number of residence rooms, kitchen, entrance and exit areas, and
other areas, of the former adult home. A second plan would be needed if there are
any changes proposed in the former adult home layout. Please also label the use
(if proposed) of the third story, and show a general parking plan. Copies of any
Health Department aermits of record for this facility, would also be helpful.
Thank you.
Very truly yours,
GERARD P. GOEHRINGER

Attached Reply from W. Price, Jr.
As requested by you, we called Bill Price after receiving his first letter of inquiry and
asked him to clarify what is being proposed in the Oysterponds Adult Home, for
which a use-type variance was issued by the ZBA many years ago (copy attached).
Mr. Price indicated that Ed Forrester had referred him to you, based on
conversations with Ed directly that he had. Bill also said that it was Ed Forrester's
opinion that a letter could be requested from the ZBA to confirm that the use of the
property as a "tourist home" is similar to "an adult home" and therefore would fall
under the prior variance for an "adult home."
How do you want to proceed? Thank you.

Re: 25-500 Main Road, Orient, New York
Dear Chairman Goehringer:
In response to your request concerning the use of the subject premises as a tourist home:
There are guest rooms on the upper floor, one guest room on the first floor, and a living
room, dining room, and kitchen facilities on the first floor, where food and beverages will be
available.

Re: 25-500 Main Road, Orient, New York
Dear Chairman Goehringer:
Enclosed herewith is the best copy I can muster of a decision from the Zoning Board of
Appeals in November, 1966, together with the Board's transmission cover, and a print of the
new survey of the subject premises. As I read your decision, it was never determined that the
establishment of an adult home as opposed to the tourist home or inn was a use of a "more
restrictive nature" [Section 100-241 (c)].
It is my understanding that a letter from you will suffice under these circumstances to re-
establish the "tourist home" or inn on the subject property. Please consider this a request for
such a letter.
Very t~
