After investigation andinspection the Board finds that the
appellant request permission to retain an on premises area
identification sign. This sign identifies Cedar Beach Park area.
The sign is four feet by six 'feet, which is in conformity with
the provisions of the Southold Town Zoning Ordinance. It is the
opinion of the Board that the sign in question is in the interest
of the travelling public.
The Board finds that the public convenience and welfare and
justice will be served and the legally established or
permitted use of neighborhood property and adjoining use districts
will not be permanently or substantially injured and the spirit
of the Ordinance will be observed.
Therefore, it was RESOLVED that Cedar Beach Parr Association,
Inc. , Cedar Beahh, Southold, New York, be granted' pexlmis'sion- to retain
an off premises identification sign, on property located on the' south
side of MainBayvieW Road, Southold, NeW York, bounded north by Main
Bayview Road, east by property of General Wayne Inn, Inc. ,-" south by
Cedar Beach Park Subdivision, west by M. Dickinson. This permission
is granted subject to the following conditions:
1. The sign shall b e granted for one (1) year only, renewable
annually upon written application to the Board of Appeals.
2. The sign shall be subject to all subsequent changes in
the Southold Town Zoning Ordinance as it applies to signs.
3. The sigh shall be erected at least five (5) feet from all
property lines.
4. The sign shall be erected at least three (3) feet above
ground level.

THE EPEC~LF~CEP~ON ISREQL~ESTEDBECAUSE this sign has been in the
same location for over 25 years. It does conform as to size, four
feet wide and six feet tall. It is located on a private road lead-
ing into Cedar Beach Park and is approximately forty feet back from
the Town road" Bay View Rgad" lin~. If this sign were to be put
t~ either side it would be on someone'~s property, either to the
W~st on Dic~erson's farm or to the East on "General Wayne Inn" prop-
erty. It is not visible to the public only to those e~tering the
private road (Cedar Beach Road). It is an impossibility to move this
sign to any location other than where it is because the Private Road
upon the side of which it is located is only Fifty feet wide and could
not be erected so that it would be "at least 35 feet from all property
lines" as requested. In all the years that this sign has been on the
property there never~has been even one complaint from any one in
reference to it. T. his sign has been an expense to the ass'ri, and
has been rep'inted when necessary so that it would be attractive and
not an eye sore as are many signs in Southold T~wn, nor does it block
the view of cars entering the town road and is in a position that it
is not dangerous to anyone.
