FORM ZB4 • ,V.i,,,;,;i Z ING BOARD OF APPEALS
Barbara C. Dittmann, Secretary
After investigation and inspection the Board finds that
the applicant request permission to retain off premises
directional signs for the purpose of directing people to his
real estate office. The Board points out that the Board of
Appeals has never granted permission for a directinnal sign
for a real estate business. The Zoning Ordinance makes ample
provisions for the advertisement of the sale of real Estate.
The Board finds that the public convenience and welfare
and justice will be not served and the legally established or
permitted use of neighborhood property and adj(oining use, ,
districts will be permanently or substantially injured and
the spitit of the Ordinance will not; be observed._
therefore, it was RESOLVED that Patrick F._. Gorman, Depot,
Lane, Cutchogue, New York, be, denied _permission to retain off
premises directional signs on the property of Frank Machinchich
Estate, on property located on the south side Main Road,
Cutchogue, and on the North side Route 27A, Cutchogue,New York.
However, the applicant is permitted the following:
Since Mr. Gorman has the property in question for sale,
he may erect a four foot by six foot (4'x6' ) sign, advertising
the sale of the former Frank Machinchich
tmeat farm for sale on the north side Route 27A. He is further
permitted a three foot by four foot (31x4' ) sign, advertising
the sale of the property of the former Frank Machinchich on the
south side of the Main Road in Cutchogue. Both signs must be
set back at least five (5) feet from any property line.

here,by apply to THE ZONING BOAItD OF APPEALS for a SPECIAL EXCEPTION in accordance with
ZONING ORDINANCE ARTICLE- SECTION '~"
THE SPEC~L EXCEPTION IS REQUESTED BECAUSE
My office is located between route 25 and route 27A, and not being on
a main road, it is important that people passing through and looking
for my office may be able to locate it with the least convenience as
possible. Without these two signs it will be very hard to indicate to
the general public coming to our town that I am in business as a real
estate broker and depending on this business for a living. If I must
move these signs back the required distance without having to take them
down altogether, I will be happy to cooperate Even with the signs,
as they are now some people pass on through without stopning to inspect
my real estate listings, while many others do turn off and do business,
but without these signs this business will surly come to an early end.
I am therefore requesting you gentlemen of the board of appeals to give
your attention to the above matters, and am sure you will act in a fair
and reasonable manner that will not deprive me of the use of these signs
that are imperative to my livelihood .
The signs were errected on the present sites prior to the enactment of
the town zoning laws.
Ver~Truly Yours,~
Patrick F. Gorma~. (Real Estate Broker)
