Diedrick Appellant Orient New York at a meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals on Thursday, August 18, 1966 the appeal was considered and the action indicated below was taken on your ( ) Request fon variance due to,lack of access to property - -• (g) Request for a special exception under the Zoning Ordinance ( ) Request for a variance to the Zoning Ordinance - 1. SPECIAL EXCEPTION. By resolution of the Board it was determined that a.special exception ( ) be granted ( ) be denied pursuant to Article ............... (E.D.S.T. ) , Upon application of Raymond L. Diedrick, Orient, New- York, for a speical exceptioninaccordance with the Zoning Or-dinance,6 Article .III, Section 300, Subsection 10, for permission to maintain aa- directional sign -on property located on thenorth sib of the Main Road, Orient, New York, bounded north by land now or formerly of William Karcher, east by land now or formerly of William Karcher, south by Main -Road, west by land now or formerly of William Karcher. - * 2. VARIANCE. By resolution of the Board it was determined that (a) Strict application of the Ordinance (would) (would not) produce practical difficulties or unnecessary hardship because SEE REVERSE (b) The hardship created (is) (is not) unique and (would) (would not) be shared by all properties alike in the immediate vicinity of this property and in the same use district because SEE REVERSE (c) The variance (does) (does not) observe the spirit of the Ordinance and (would) (would not) change the character of the district because SEE REVERSE and therefore, it was further determined that the requested variance ( ) be granted ( ) be denied and that the previous decisions of the Building Inspector be confirmed ( ) be reversed. APPROVED ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS FORM ZB4 CLI-Aairman Board of Appeals Barbara C. Dittmann, Secretary After investigation and inspection the Board finds that the appellant\ request permission to retain an off premises directional sign. The sign is four feet by four feet and directs the public to Green Acres Cottages, For rent. The sign shows the location of the Office and indicates whether or not there are any vacancies at the cottages. The Board believes that this sign is in the interest of the travelling public. The Board finds that the public convenience and welfare and justice will be served and the legally established or permitted use of neighborhood property and adjoirfng use districts will not be permanently or substantially injured and the spirit of the Ordinance will be observed. Therefore,. it was RESOLVED that Raymond L. Diedrick, Orient, New York, be granted permis$ion to. retaio an off premises directional sign on property located on thenorth side_ ofthe Main Road, Orient, New York, Subject, however to the following conditions: 1. This sign shall be granted for one (1) year only, renewable annually upon written application to the Board of Appeals. 2. This sign shall be subject to all subsequent changes in the Southold Town Zoning Ordinance as it applies to sig ns. 3. This sign shall be located at least five (5) feet from the State Highway Property line. 4. This sign shall be located at least three 13) feet above ground level.
