Dittmann, Secretary After investigation and inspection the Board finds that the appellant requests permission to retain an on premises ground sign with insufficient setback from the property line. The Board finds that the appellant can not set the sign back therequired five feet in view of the existing driveway and parking lot in back of the sign. If the sign was setback the required five feet it would be located in the driveway and a traffic hazard to those going in and out of the Fruit Stand. The Board finds that all of the sign sits on the appellant's property. The Board finds that the public convenience and welfare and justice will be served and the legslly established or permitted use of neighborhood property and adjoining use districts will not be permanently or substantially injured and the spikit of the Ordinance will be observed. Therefore. it was RESOLVED that John WickhamWickham Fruit Farm, Main Road, Cutchogue, New York, be granted per- mission to retain an on pre. es ground sign with insufficient setback from the property line on property located on the south side Main Road, Cutchogue. New York, as applied for on the application to the Board of Appeals, application dated September 16, 1966, subject to the following conditions: 1. The sign shall be granted for one (1) year only, ~ renewable annaally upon written application to the Board of Appeals. 2. December 1, 1966 Zoning Board of Appeals Southold, New York Gentlemen: I am enclosing two copies of Appeal for Special Exception for my standing sign at ~y roadside stand. As the application states, this sign is presently sand- wiched in between the sidewalk and street line on one side and our own driveway for the stand on the other, and with a 3§ foot set-back for the stand this is the only sign we have which can be seen by motorists until they are immediately in front of our place of business. I have been holding this application up pending some changes in our own plans which involve an addition to our stand building and a possible change in the roof sign as well. When and if these plans materialize I will check further with the building inspector about the advisability of a change of zone, etc. We hope to make these changes within the next six months. As the application states, this sign is presently sand- wiched in between the sidewalk and street line on one side and our own driveway for the stand on the other, and with a 38 foot set-back for the stand this is the only sign we have which can be seen by motorists until they are immediately in front of our place of business. I have been holding this application up pending some change~ in our own plans which involve an addition to our stand building and a possible change in the roof sign as well.
