ZONIi~G BOA~RD 01~ APPEALS
Barbara C. Dittmann,
Secretary
After investigation and inspection t~e Board finds that the
appellant request permission to retain an off premises sign on
the property of Peter Newell, Mattituck, New York. The Board
finds that the appellant ~s a painter. The Board points out and
refers to a policy set up~he Board in maY 1958, which was ~ to
be used as a guide for off premises signs. Siad guide stated that
the purpose of such a sign must be ~ directional in Be public
interest or convenience as distinguished from signs advertising
the sale of products o~ merchandise. Siggs advertising types
of business ~hich provide food, s~eIt~r,' a~d'amuSement for the
public are 4eemed in the public interest and conveni~nce.
The Board finds that the public conveni~nce and welfare
and justice will not be served and the legally ~stablished or
~ermi~ted'u~e of neighborhood p~Operty and adjoining 'use
~districts will be permanently or s~stantiaily inj6red and
the spirit of the Ordinancel~ill not be observed.
Therefore, it was RESOLVED that Irving C. WElls, Legion
Avmnue, Mattituck, New York, be denied permission to retain
an off premises sign on the property of Peter Newell, located
on the east side of Main Road, Mattituck, New York, as applied
for on the application to the Beard of Appeals, application
dated November 30, 1966. This isgn must be removed~thin thirty
(30) days from January 19, 1967.
