Robinson, located on the we~t side Main Road, Cutchogue, New York, bounded north by Stanley Rysko, east by Main Road, south by D. Robinson- Others, west by Long Island Railroad. After investigation and inspection the Board finds that the appellant request permission to retain one on premises ground sigh with insufficient setback from the property, line and two signs on the front of the building. The Board finds that if the ground sign~wa~.- setback th% ~q~i~9~ f~ve feet it would n~t be visible to TeSt boqnd ~raffic. The small s~gn On the building is a professiona~ plaque, which gi~es the insurance n%mber andtYpes oX insurance so~d~ This is s~par~te, frpm the real estate bu~iness~,and ~he~ Board feels it is entitled ~o a Sign. ' ct The Board fihds that the pUblic conveni~ence and w~lfare and justice will. be Served and the ~egally established or perm'itt~ed use of n,e.ighborhog~ property and adjo~ining use d~istricts will not be permanently or substantially injured~ and the spirit of the Ordinance will be observed. Therefore, it was HESOLVED that Russell P. Silleck Agency, Main Street, Cutchogue, New York, be granted permission to retain one on premises ground sign with insufficient set back from the property line and two signs on the front of the building on property located on the south side Main Road, Cutchogue, New York, as applied for on the application to the Board of Appeals, application dated December 3, 1966, subject to the following conditions: 1. The signs shall be granted for one year only, renewable annually upon written application to the Board of Appeals. 2. The signs shall be subject to all subsequent changes in the Southold Town Zoning Ordinance as it applies to signs. After investigation and inspection the Board further finds that the appellant request permission to retain two road side signs. The appellant is in the real estate and insurance business. The Board points out that any real estate dealer may display a sign on any property that is for sale or for rent. The Board points out and refers to a policy set up by the Board in May 1958, which was to be used as a guide for off premises signs. Said guide stated that the purposed of such a sign must be directional in the public interest or convenience as distinguished from signs advertising the sale of products ormerchandise. ~ns advertising types of businesses which provide food, shelter and amusement for the public are deemed in the public interest and convenience. -2- The Board finds that the public convenience and welfare and justice will not be served and the legally established or permitted use of neighborhood property and adjoining use districts will be permanently or substantially injured and the spirit of the Ordinance will not be observed. Therefore, it was RESOLVED that Russell P. Silleck Agency, Main Street, Cutchogue, New yOrk, be denied permission to retain the following off premises signs:l) a sign on the property of C. Koloski, located on the south side Ma~l Road, Mattituck, New York, 2) a sign located on the property of H.B. Robinson, located on the west side Main Road, Cutchogue, New York, as applied for on the application to the Board of Appeals, application dated December 3, 1966.
