The Mattituck-Laurel Civic Association would like to hold a 5k Run/Walk to
i be held Sun eet-, 1 starting at 9am. We would be using Veteran's
i Park in Mattituck to stage the event, with the start and finish in proximity
to the park. Registration would start at 8am and awards and ceremonies
would be finished by 11:30. The start will be near the baseball field on Bay
Ave and the course will head south to Peconic Bay Boulevard, head west
i. until Bray Avenue, head north to Old Main Road which will take us behind
the gas station and McDonalds. The course will then enter the Main Road
for 1/4 mile to Bay Avenue where it will proceed south to finish at Veteran's
Park.
This route will necessitate monitoring the light at Sigsbee Road. I
hope to recruit the'NJROTC at Mattituck High School to monitor the north
and south ends of Marlene Lane and the south end of Sigsbee Road.
One thought; the impact on traffic on the Main Road could be
lessened by doing the course in reverse, with runners and walkers being
off the the Main Road sooner(within the first mile)than going in the
clockwise direction where they will be more spread out.
