ZONTNG BOA/%D OP APPEALS
Barbara C. D't
· tmann,
After investigation and inspectiQn th~ Board finds
that the applicant requested a rehearing for the signs
located on the east and west side of Moore's Lance North.
The Board finds that the applicant has only the permission
of the property owner on the east side of Mo~e Lane North.
The Board'conf~r~s the'action of the Board of Appeals as
taken on April 13, 196~ on appeal no. 1078 in regard to
sign number one located on the east and west sideof Mc Cann
Lane, and sign~numbe~ three located on the property of O.E.
Gildersleeve. The Board grants permission for one subdivision
identification sign, no larger than 20 inches by 8 inches to
hang on four ~by four ~post on the property of J.J.
Vaccaro on the north east corner of the intersection of Moore
Lane North and Route 27. With reference to item number four,
the location of the double face sign, it should be at least
· fifteen, feet from the propert~<li~e on ~e north, side of
, Route 27., This sign ~hali ~e a~gle~ ~o {h~t t~e an~le shall
be no larger than the smallest dimension of th~ sign, which shall
be joined together.. . ,-.
The Board finds, that the. . public _.c°nvenienc?. ·. and. Welfare
and justice will be served and t~e\lega~l? established o~ per-
mitted use of neighborhood property andadjoining use districts
w~ll not be~permanentl~ ~r substantially injured aha the sPirit
of the Ordinance will be observed.
Therefore it was RESOLVED that Eastern Shores, Inc., Greenpor~
New York, be granted permission to maintain signs as described
above on the property of J.J. Vaccaro, and on the property of
Eastern Shores, Inc. This permission is granted subject to the
following conditions:
1. Both signs shall be granted for a period of one year,
renewable annually upon written applicatio to the Board of
Appeals.
2. Both signs shall be subject to all subsequent changes in
the Southold Town Building Zoning Ordinance as ~ applies to ~ns.

east by, and ~w~ by H.J.S. Land and Development Corp, south by N~rth
Road (CR 27).
After investigation and inspection the Board finds that the
applicant requests permission to retain four subdivision identification
signs with insufficient setback. The Board agrees with the reasoning
of the applicant as to sign number one and sign number four. If the
signs were set back the required thirty five feet they would not be vis-
ible~ These two signs~aze permitted., As.to.~igB number two, this is an
.advertising sig~ for the~sale of property and ~o~ated on property other
~than that or, tike deve~op~rs.~ As t~$~gn.number, three, ~is i~ an off
premises directiD/lal advertising sign and as such isnot/permltted use.

'As to sign number one and sign n~mber four, the Board finds that
that, public convenience and w~lfare and j~stic~ will be served ~nd
the legally established or permitted use o~.nei~hborhood property
and a~joining use districts will not~beopermanently~o~ substgn~ially
injured and the spirit of the OrdinaDce will b9 observed.,
As to sign number two and sign number ttL~e$,the Board finds that
the public convenience and welfare and justice will not be served and
the legally established or permitted use of neighborhood property and
adjoining use districts will be permanently or substantially injured
and the spirit of the Ordinance will not be observed.
Therefore, it was RESOLVED that Eastern Shores, Inc., North Road,
Greenport, New York, be granted permission to retain the following
subdivision identification signs with insufficient setback: 1) a sign
on the north side North Road, (CR 27), at the entrance to McCann Lane,
east and west side of McCann Lane, Greenport, New York; 2) a sign onm
the land of the applicant north side North Road ~R 27), Greenport, New
York, bounded north , east, and west by H.J.S. Land and Development
Corp., south by North Road (CR 27), as applied for. This permission~s
subject to the following conditions:
1. Both signs shall be granted for a period of one year, renewable
annually upon written application to the Board of Appeals.
2. Both signs shallbe subject to all subsequent changes in the
Southold Town Building Zone Ordinance as it applies to signs.
IT WAS FURTHER RESOLVED t~at Eastern Shores, Inc., North Road, Green-
