Dear Mr. Krukowski:
We are in receipt of written communications from Greg Powers in behalf of, the sign
the Sea Shell Restaurant and its proposed sign at your premises (barn building)
located on the south side of the Main Road. Southold, You have indicated that
the wording of the new sign will be for directional purposes only for the Sea Shell
Restaurant. and Mr. Powers. as owner of the "Sea Shell Restaurant" has confirmed
that this will be the only directional sign displayed in the entire Southold Town
for his restaurant. Based upon these circumstances. it was agreed that the sign
be permitted to be replaced for directional purposes. subject to the following sign
conditions:
1. Entire sign not larger than 4 ft. by 6 ft.
2. Not to extend beyond wall of building
3. 3/4" Exterior plywood or equivalent
4. White background
5. Red arrow (restaurant name and telephone number permitted)
6. That no other directional sign for the same business is situated in the
Township.
7. That no other sign is situated at this property. except as may be
authorized by Town approval.
8. Photograph of sign. when displayed. (or sketch with dimensions and
final print) to be furnished to the Office of the Southold Town Board of
Appeals.
9. Wording of the sign is limited to directional purposes for
the Sea Shell Restaurant, or as authorized by the Appeals Board.
Please be sure to return to the Building Department for issuance of the appropriate
permit for the sign changes. A copy of this letter is being forwarded to their

This will confirm that the Board Members have considered
your request to change the wording of the sign which is
presently for the Seafood Barge. You have indicated that the
wording of the new sign will be for directional purposes and
only for the Sea Shell Restaurant.
The Board Members have requested a letter from the owner of
the Sea Shell Restaurant confirming that this is the only
directional sign for their restaurant in the Town of Southold
and that the owners will agree not to place any other
directional signs in the Town. The Board has indicated that
upon receipt of that confirmation, in writing, an approval would
be issued.
Once you are able to contact the owners, who we understand
are out of state for the winter months, please contact us.

INFORMATION SHEET
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING ZONING ACTIONS
Punuant to Section 239 L & M of General Municipal Low
Any person wishing to apply for amendments to the zoning ordinance; change of zone; special
exceptions or special permits; variances to the zoning ordinance, whose property loys within 500 feet
of:
1. Town Boundary line
2. Village Boundary line
3. State Park
4. County Park
5. State Road
6. State Parkway Or expressway
7. County Road
8. County Parkway
9. County Drainage Channel
10. State Public Building
11. County Public Building
must submit the following:
Six copies of the proposed action (application); accurate description of the property by meetes
and bounds; nature and reasons for requesting the change, variance or special eXception; name
and address of applicant, firm or corporation having an interest in the property; 6 copies of an ac-
curate map to scole, and drown to the requirements of the Suffolk County Planning Commission as
follows:
A. All property owners within 500 feet of the boundary of the parcel which is subject to the zoning
oct ion shall be shown.
B. All existing buildings within 200 feet of the boundary of the parcel which is subject to the zoning
action shall be shown and their use indicated.
C. The parcel shall be described with accurate boundory data giving bearings and distances, and shall
form a closed figure.
D. Three copies of the map shall be submitted to the County Planning Commission with the notice
and shall be considered part of the notice. (This is done by the Town agency concerned).
Zoning classification of the surrounding area shall be shown.
Name and address of person making map shall be shown.
Scale--Smallest scale permitted will be 1 "=200 ft., scale shall be selected so as to insure clarity.
Size-Maps shall be 8]12" x 11" or 11" x 17" when measured on the outer edges. There shall be
a ]12" border on all sides of the drawing.
All maps shall have a locality sketch whicl'l may be copied from the local zoning map of recent date.
The name of applicant and his address shall be indicated on the map.
Line indicating the boundary of the jurisdiction of the Suffolk County Planning Commission shall
be shown (this line shall be 500 feet when meosured at right angles to and parallel with parcel
to which zoning oction has been considered).
L. The nature of the zoning action shall be indicated.
M. A suitable title shall be placed on the map for purposes of identifying the application.
N. The Village and Town must be indicated in the title.
O. North Point shall be indicated by an arrow.
P. All maps shall be prepared in a neat and professional manner.
Q. All maps will be checked by the staff of the Suffolk County Planning Commission and evidence
of gross errors or inaccuracies will be cause for rejection. Rejection of a map will be considered
lack of proper notification.
R. Map requirements may be varied upon written approval of the Suffolk County Planning Commis-
sion in those cases where unusual circumstances may arise, provided the request is submitted prior
to the submission of notice to the commission.

All applications will be processed as soon as possible by the Town of Southold after they are clear-
ed by the County Planning Commission. A minimum of 30 days after receipt and acceptance by the
County Planning Commission is required before the Town can act.
