SOUTHOLD TOWN BOARD
SPECIAL MEETING
APRIL 6, 1988
WORK SESSION
Present: Supervisor Francis J. Murphy, Councilwoman Jean W. Cochran, Councilman
George L. Penny IV, Councilwoman Ruth D. Oliva, CounCilwoman Ellen M., Larsen,
Town Clerk Judith T. Terry, Superintendent of Highways Raymond L. Jacobs.
5:00 P.M. - The Board met to review and discuss topographical maps, received by
Superintendent of Highways Jacobs, of the Landfill Site, Cutchogue, and prepared
by Holzmacher, McLendon & ~Murrell, P.C. The maps revealed that the amount of
land remaining at the Landfill which is available for sand mining is only sufficient
for the needs of the Highway and Public Works Departments. The Board agreed
that it is necessary at this time .to suspend the sale of sand so they may study the
situation further and meet with their consultant H2M. They agreed they should
honor those sand tickets that have been sold by the Town Clerk's Office to date,
but not to sell any .further tickets until the evaluation is complete and a di~cision
for the future can be made.----Councilwoman Larsen brought to the Board's attention
that she has investigated the agenda for the National Symposium on Protection of
Wetlands from Agricultural Impacts to be held later in the month in Colorado, and
has consulted the Planning Board and Trustees to determine if any of their members
wished to attend. No one is available on the dates of the symposium, and Council-
woman Larsen advised the Board she is and would like to attend (see resolution no.
2).
