Petition summary and The field at the corner of Wells Road and Main Road in Peconic, NY has significant issues where the rain runoff(still) flows
background I off the field, down the road, and into Richmond Creek-causing flooding on the road, erosion of the asphalt & land and
detrimental impact to the wetlands & sea life. The lessees of the land also practice poor field maintenance in winter,
leaving no soil cover which in turn causes dust storms to cover the nearby properties with excessive amounts of dust and
debris which must be cleaned with the resident's own time and expense.
Action petitioned for We, the undersigned, are the concerned residents of Wells Road who urge our town leaders to act now to rectify the
flooding conditions and run off from the leased field, including maintenance of the bioswale. We also ask that the road
surface conditions caused by the runoff are addressed and that all the storm drains along the entire road are reviewed and
either increased, adjusted or cleaned with the hopes that less flooding will occur on the road even the lightest amounts of
rain. Lastly, the land lessees are held to account for their poor maintenance of the field as to not affect nearby residents.
