CONSERVATION ADVISORY COUNCIL

Minutes of meeting Dec. i4r , 1977
The meeting was called. to order at 8 pm at the Southold.
Town Hall. Present were John Tuthill, John Plock, William
Ruland, Jack Mulhall, and Frank Kujawski.
Our group was asked to co-ment on the Lilco jetty
application by the Army Corps of Engineers. A discur-rion
of the prr�osed application was held and the following --re
the r.onclusions of the councill.
1. Construction of the jetty would have an obvious erosive
action on the beaches to the east of the jetty.
2. Possible damage to the entrance of Mattituck Inlet could
occur.
3. Damage to the water table a.nd anui.fer of Southold Town
could occur as a result of dredging of the beach between
the jettys.
4. To minimize damage to (lowndrift beaches if the jettys
must be constructed they should be bated on the applicants
westernmost boundary.
These findings would be communcated to the Corps by letter
and by the chairman at the public hearing in Riverhead.
