ADOPTED AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE SOUTHOLD TOWN BOARD ON
MARCH 1, 2022:
WHEREAS,there has been presented to the Town Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk
County,New York, on the 1 st day of February, 2022, a need for stop signs at Duck Pond Road,
in Cutchogue, and
WHEREAS, it has been presented a Local Law entitled "A Local Law in relation to an
Amendment to Chapter 260, Vehicles and Traffic, in connection with Traffic and
Pedestrian Safety" and
WHEREAS the Town Board of the Town of Southold held a public hearing at which time all
interested persons were given an opportunity to be heard, now therefor be it
RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of Southold hereby ENACTS the proposed Local
Law entitled, "A Local Law in relation to an Amendment to Chapter 260,Vehicles and
Traffic, in connection with Traffic and Pedestrian Safety" reads as follows:

A Local Law entitled, "A Local Law in relation to an Amendment to Chapter 260, Vehicles
and Traffic, in connection with Traffic and Pedestrian Safety".
BE IT ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of Southold as follows:
I. Purpose.
The purpose of this local law is to improve safety for pedestrians and vehicles, as well as
dealing with impacts to the public's health, safety and welfare.
II. Chapter 260 of the Code of the Town of Southold is hereby amended as follows:
§260-4. Stop intersections with stop signs.
At Intersection Location
Stop Sign on Direction of Travel With (Hamlet)
Duck Pond Road North Birch Lane Cutchogue
Duck Pond Road South Vista Place Cutchogue
III. SEVERABILITY
If any clause, sentence, paragraph, section; or part of this Local Law shall be adjudged by any
court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, the judgment shall not affect the validity of this law
as a whole or any part thereof other than the part so decided to be unconstitutional or invalid.

IV. EFFECTIVE DATE
This Local Law shall take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State as provided

Be it enacted the Town Board of the:

The purpose of this local law is to improve safety for pedestrians and vehicles, as well as dealing with
impacts to the public's health, safety and welfare.
II. Chapter 260 of the Code of the Town of Southold is hereby amended as follows:

VEHICLE AND TRAFFIC-STOP SIGNS
THE PROPOSED LOCAL LAW FOR WHICH A PUBLIC HEARING IS BEING HELD THIS
EVENING PROPOSES TO AMEND CHAPTER 260 OF THE TOWN CODE, VEHICLE AND
TRAFFIC, TO ALLOW FOR THE INSTALLATION OF TWO ADDITIONAL STOP SIGNS
ON DUCK POND ROAD.
THE PURPOSE OF THIS LOCAL LAW IS TO ALLOW FOR FURTHER TRAFFIC CONTROL
ON DUCK POND ROAD.
THIS WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED BY AMENDING ONE SECTION OF THE TOWN CODE
TO ADD THE STOP SIGNS.
