OLE JULE DREDGE COMPANY, LLC, c/o MARK DAVIS requests a Wetland Permit for a Ten
(10) Year Maintenance Permit to dredge a navigable channel 20'x650' to -4 ALW; the resultant
dredge spoil to be loaded by barge to property of Davis for dewatering/testing and trucked to an
approved landfill. Located: Canal within James Creek, 1570, 1700, & 1780 Ole Jule Lane,
Mattituck. SCTM#'s: 1000-122-4-44.8, 1000-122-4-3, 1000-122-4-4, 1000-122-4-5
The proposed action has been reviewed to Chapter 268, Waterfront Consistency Review of the
Town of Southold Town Code and the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) Policy
Standards. Based upon the information provided on the LWRP Consistency Assessment Form
submitted to this department, as well as the records available to me, it is my recommendation
that the proposed action is CONSISTENT with the LWRP policies and therefore CONSISTENT
with the LWRP.
Pursuant to Chapter 268, the Board of Trustees shall consider this recommendation in
preparing its written determination regarding the consistency of the proposed action.

assessment is intended to supplement other infonnation used by a Town of Southold agency In
making a detennination of consistency. Except minor exempt actions including Building Peanuts
and other a�inisterialpermits riot locaW within the Coastal Erosion HazardArea. \
2. Before answering the questions in Section C, the preparer of this fonn.should review the exempt
minor action list, policies and explanations of each policy contained in the Town of Southold Local
Waterfront Devitalization Program. A Proposed action will be evaluated as to itssiccant
beneficial and adverse effects upon the coastal area which includes all o f Southold To

Maintenance dredge to-4 MLW approximate 750-1200 cubic yards of underwater lands within an existing
canal. Dredged spoils will be off loaded to adjacent upland areas for dewateratering and staging. A silt
boom will be used to retain all suspended sediments.A line of staked hay bales and/or silt fencing will be
installed around the bermed dewatering areas prior to commencement of the project.

proposed dredged area. Sediments will placed either on a barge and/or placed in dewatering areas on the upland of property
owners adjacent to the dredge area. The dewatering areas will have silt fence and/or haybales surrounding them to protect
nearby tidal wetlands. The edge of the tidal wetlands areas will also have silt fencing and/haybales as a double protection.

Currently,this portion of James Creek is very shallow and recreational boat usage has the potential to stir up sediments during its
usage. Obviously, stirring up sediments from recreational usage could have deleterious impact on local shell and fm fish popoulation
especially during spawning and larvae development. Clearing a channel for continued boating will substantially lower the potential
for disturbance of the bottom sediments and ultimately result in better water quality for the living marine resource in James Creek and
the Peconic Estuary.
