Re: COVID-19 Mask Policy Reinstatement
In order to address the recent uptick in cases of COVID-19 statewide, as well as
remain in compliance with the recent executive orders of New York State
Governor Kathy Hochul, effective Dec. 13, 2021 all individuals two years old and
older, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to be wear a mask indoors
in all Southold Town Buildings. This measure is effective Dec. 13, 2021 until Jan.
15, 2022, after which the State will re-evaluate the requirement based on current
conditions.

MASK REQUIREMENTS IN THE COUNTY WORKPLACE
Effective Wednesday May 19,2021,New York State adopted the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC)interim guidance which lifts the mask mandate for individuals who have been
fully vaccinated under certain circumstances.
As of July 27, 2021, the CDC recommends everyone, including fully vaccinated people, wear a
mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission, which as of August 6,
2021 includes Suffolk County.
Suffolk County employees who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof
(either paper or electronic form) to their department's designee will not be required to wear
masks at work.
Commissioners and Department Heads must ensure all employees who are not wearing masks in
the workplace have provided proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Employees
are NOT permitted to choose not to wear masks in the workplace based upon"the honor system,"
or by any other process which does not involve employees providing verifiable proof of full
vaccination against COVID-19.
UNVACCINATED EMPLOYEES ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS AT ALL TIMES
WHILE AT WORK. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO CONTINUED MASK WEARING AT
WORK AS REQUIRED MAY RESULT IN DISCIPLINARY ACTION.
All county employees were issued cloth face coverings last year. If you require replacement masks
please speak to your department head and the County will provide.
Visitors to county office buildings are also required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
If your guest is unable to provide such proof,they must wear a mask when in a county building.
