Home My WebLink About2021 ANNUAL ELECTION OF FISHERS ISLAND FIRE DISTRICT DECEMBER 14, 2021 PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Annual Election of the Fishers Island Fire District will take place on December 14, 2021, between the hours of 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM at the Fishers Island Community Center located at 66 Hound Lane, Fishers Island,New York for the purpose of electing one Commissioner for a five year term commencing on January 1, 2022 and ending on December 31, 2026. Candidates for the District Office of Commissioner shall file a petition signed by at least twenty-five (25) registered voters of the Fire District,which petition must be filed with the Secretary of the Fire District at the Fire District office, 250 Athol-Crescent Avenue, Fishers Island, NY no later than 4:00 PM on November 24, 2021. Such petition must contain the name and address of the candidate (the candidate's legal residence, not a P.O. Box). Petition forms may be obtained from the Fire District Secretary. NOTICE is further given that the following proposition shall be presented to the qualified voters of the Fire District at said Annual Election: PROPOSITION SHALL the Defined Benefit Plan established by the Length of Service Award Program as approved by the voters of the Fishers Island Fire District, Town of Southold, County of Suffolk, State of New York be amended to provide that the maximum number of years that may be earned in the plan be increased from 40 years to 50 years, such changes bearing an estimated annual cost of$6,000.00 ? All residents of the Fire District who shall have resided in the Fire District for the period of thirty days next preceding the day of the Annual Election and who duly registered with the Suffolk County Board of Elections on or before 23 days prior to the date of the Annual Election shall be eligible to vote at the said Annual Election. Please be advised that the Board of Elections of the Fire District shall meet on November 29, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM at the firehouse for the purpose of preparing the rolls of the registered voters of the Fire District.
