RE: 750 LUPTON POINT ROAD, MATTITUCK

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Strong:
With regards to your phone call and email received on June 29, 2021 requesting
to remove one tree that was infested with carpenter ants discovered by your tree
trimming company at above mentioned property, Trustee Glenn Goldsmith
performed a site visit on June 29, 2021 and determined that this tree may be
removed without the requirement of a permit from this office.
Any other activity within 100' of the wetland boundary requires a permit from this
office.
This is not a determination from any other agency.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call our office at (631)
765-1892.
S' cerely,
Glenn Goldsmith

Nothing additional from yesterday. We already had permission to take down two other trees for our project,
which were taken down a few days ago.
Thanks again.

Good Morning Ms. Strong,
You are very welcome. You are right, this was fortuitous, that rarely happens. I too was happy it worked out so well as
I fully understood your concern of possibly having to have the tree contractor come back a second time when he was
already there and could remove said tree.

I will create a letter and email it to you however, I have to ask was it just the one tree or anything additional to that
that Glenn saw?

Good morning Elizabeth,
i
E
I want to thank you for your quick response to our problem yesterday afternoon. How
fortuitous it was that Glenn was in the vicinity, and that you were there to guide us through to
a resourceful solution.
i
I would like to ask for a formal letter stating permission to cut that tree down, since it is
different from what is stated in the letter the Board sent us in late January or February,
2021.
I As Shakespeare said,"All's well that ends well."
With gratitude,
E
Joni Strong

To whom it may concern:

Work on the two trees that were to be removed as permitted by the Trustees began last week. Today they
began pruning the other trees on the property and taking down the insidious vines near the waterfront.
While pruning one of the trees ( close to the house) that we Did Not have permission to remove but only
prune, the tree trimmer came to us to show us the damage inside two branches of the tree that he trimmed. He
advised my husband-to take the tree down, as he feels it is compromised. This tree will hang over our new
patio and is close to the side of the house.
i
We told him he COULD NOT further trim that tree or take it down without permission.
 3
We are now requesting permission to take Down the tree as we are scared for its health and our safety—as
that tree is close to the bedroom wing of our home and will hang over our patio and grill area.
3
Attached are photo of the tunnels in the tree branch that was pruned today. That branch outwardly showed
signs of splitting, which is why we were pruning it. The tree trimmer thinks the tunnels run throughout the
I tree.
A cross section of the spot where the branch was cut shows the tunnels going into the east do the tree. See
first photo.
We would like the trimmers to be able to move on it while they are here today or we will have to get on their
schedule again, which could take weeks, and pay more to have them back.
Please advise.
