Normally,we have benefited from the beach nourishment provided by sand derived from the dredging of the outlet to James Creek. Not only does this process preserve and protect all bay adjacent properties to the east and west of Camp Mineola Road, but also creates unfettered access for watercraft belonging the properties adjacent to James Creek, including those moored at Strong's Marina. With our neighbors on the waterfront,we have seen dramatic erosion from the storms Mattituck experienced throughout the Fall and Winter and, unfortunately, no beach nourishment was conducted this Spring. it is my understanding that the Town is in the process of identifying those creeks which are in need of dredging and which adjacent shorefront is experiencing serious erosion for submission to the Suffolk County Department of Public Works and the Department of Environmental Conservation,so that the necessary dredging projects can be scheduled and a fair apportionment of sand can be made. I ask respectfully that your inspection of the area include the James Creek outlet and the shorefront immediately to its East. I trust any review will find this stretch of bay front vey much in need of attention;for many of these properties, the bulkhead is currently acting as the waterline for much of the day. A representative of our Association can be made available should there be any need for our assistance with this process. I thank you in advance for your attention and consideration to this matter.
