Hello Diane, I'd first like to thank you for your time discussing tree removal permitting and proper procedures via the phone. My name is Lauren Goodwin and I recently purchased a property in Southold on Great Pond, 7005 Soundview Ave.We are so excited to soon be Southold residents. Our deed is being filed with Southold Town, but attached you can find confirmation from the title insurance company that we have closed on this property. During our contracting process,we conducted a tree risk assessment with Jonathan and Kevin at Shamrock Trees.They advised us that three trees need immediate attention to avoid damage to ours or town property-two trees should be removed, and one tree should be cabled.They also recommended some maintenance (trimming) of a few trees, particularly those hanging close to town wires. I am writing to request the proper permits so that I can commission the work recommended in this tree risk assessment. Because the property is within 100 feet of Great Pond,we want to be sure and get the proper permission for any such actions. I have provided photographs below of the three trees that need attention, and descriptions of the recommended action. As owner, I give permission of the town Trustee to visit the property and examine the trees based on this assessment. Thank you very much for your attention and your time. Shamrock Trees recommends removing the unhealthy part and keeping the healthy part. X Tree 3 for cabling:This is a large tree with one major trunk and two minor trunks, adjacent to the driveway.The folks at Shameock trees think this one can be saved but that the minor trunks should be cables in the event of high winds and risk of damaging the house. 2 X Tree 2 for removal:A birch tree between the house and the bond has split, and one part of the split is unhealthy.
