Board of Trustees Appli ion WETLAND/TRUSTEE LANDS APPLICATION DATA Purpose of the proposed operations: Construction of swimming pool and patio for recreational use. Area of wetlands on lot: +/-898 square feet Percent coverage of lot: +/-2.2 oio Closest distance between nearest existing structure and upland edge of wetlands: +/-85 feet (existing patio) Closest distance between nearest proposed structure and upland edge of wetlands: +/-91 feet (proposed patio) Does the project involve excavation or filling? Statement of the effect, if any, on the wetlands and tidal waters of the town that may result by reason of such proposed operations (use attachments if appropriate): The proposed swimming pool and surrounding patio would be located only partially within Chapter 275 jurisdiction, located approximately 95 and 91 feet, respectively, from the freshwater wetland boundary of Marratooka Pond. Both structures would thus exceed by more than 40 feet the 50-foot wetlands setback required for pools and related structures pursuant to Section 275-3(D)(1)(a)(5)of the Town Code. As the pool would also be situated within the highly elevated portion of the property and thus substantially above the water table,it would not interfere with or impact groundwater. And the pool would use a saltwater treatment system, thus avoiding use of a traditional,high-chlonnation treatment system;a pool drywell is proposed outside Chapter 275 jurisdiction to capture pool backwash;and a temporary project limiting silt fence would be installed between the work site and shoreline to control and contain site disturbance and potential runoff during construction. Additionally,an approximately 1,414 sf non-turf buffer is proposed in place of existing lawn between the wetland boundary and existing wood-and-wire fence, which would increase the separation distance between the maintained lawn and Marratooka Pond and provide a sink for potential chemicals contained in surface runoff. Therefore, the project as designed would not result in the physical loss, degradation,or functional loss of ecological components or otherwise adversely impact the adjacent freshwater wetlands or surface waters of Marratooka Pond. 617.20 Appendix B Short Environmental Assessment Form Instructions for Completing Part I-Project Information. The applicant or project sponsor is responsible for the completion of Part 1. A pool drywell is proposed outside Chapter 275 jurisdiction to capture pool backwash;and the pool would use a saltwater treatment system, thus avoiding use of a traditional,high-chlorination treatment system.
