We are requesting an amendment from an original approval dated January 04, 2021 for the following: Increase in size of approved second story deck from 4.8'x15.5'to 9.0'x20.7' Attached are the proposed plans showing the new larger second story deck which will remain open to the sky. We are requesting a larger second story deck to provide an efficient means of drainage as well as a better structural design. By increasing the size of the deck from 4.8'to 9.0'we are bringing the edge of the deck in line with the exterior wall below. By doing this we can provide an adequate means for rainwater to drain from this area by flowing off of the side into the gutter. The smaller deck that was approved would require drain scuppers. Since this space is situated above first floor living space we are concerned that the scuppers will not provide adequate drainage leading to long term water damage of the finished living spaces below. By increasing the size of the deck from 15.5'to 20.7'we can align that edge of the deck on top of a wall below which gives us an efficient means to support the load coming down from the deck.
